Immigration End of Year Reminders for International Students with F-1 or J-1 visa Students with a Form I-20 or DS-2019 should review their current document, especially if they: are considering a program extension beyond their current program end date graduating earlier than the program end date on their current documents had a recent change in major are considering travel outside the U.S. during Summer 2018 will be doing study or research abroad in Fall 2018 will be working off campus and need work authorization Program End Dates: Program extension requests must be processed BEFORE the current program end date. If you are graduating earlier than the program end date on your I-20/DS-2019, it is your responsibility to check in with ISSA to report that change. It is possible you are not receiving important end of program reminders. Change of Major: The major(s) listed on your I-20 should be current. If you changed or declared your major this year, check to be sure your Form I-20 is accurate. We send out notices to students when we have updated the I-20, and it is the student's responsibility to pick up the document. Travel Signature: If you will exit the U.S., confirm that your travel signature is updated. Travel signatures from an ISSA Advisor (DSO/ARO) are valid for one year within a student's program dates; they are valid for 6 months while a student is on OPT. Along with the valid travel signature on your Form I-20 and DS-2019, you will need a valid passport and valid visa to reenter the U.S. Study/Research Abroad: If you will study abroad in Fall 2018 or the 2017-2018 Academic Year, you will need to complete the Study/Research Abroad form in ISSAlink.nd.edu. OPT/CPT Work Authorization: Our final OPT and CPT Information Sessions are this week: OPT Information Session is Monday, April 16 at 5pm in Duncan Student Center, North W246. CPT Information Session is Tuesday, April 17 at 5pm in 105 Main Building The OPT and CPT videos are available online. Students must apply for CPT at least one week before the employment start date. For students with a May 20, 2018, program end date, your final day to apply for OPT is July 19, 2018.
