Game NotesLast Time Out: The Soaring Eagles enter today’s contest fresh off a 2-1 victory over Alvernia University, moving EC’s record to 4-5-2 overall. The Purple and Gold got off to a slow start against the Crusaders, getting shutout in the shot cate-gory in the first half, but that changed as Elmira scored twice in the final 20 minutes of play. Danielle Fournier ’15 slotted home a penalty kick to give EC a 1-0 lead in the 73rd min-ute, but Alvernia answered right back to tie the game just 56 seconds later. The Soaring Eagles would prove resilient, how-ever, as Mollie Hamilton ’15 and Abby Saturni ’18 linked up for the go-ahead score with just over 11 minutes left.

Fournier’s First: Danielle Fournier ’15 gave EC a 1-0 lead in the 73rd minute, scoring on a penalty kick right after she helped create the opportunity. For Fournier, the penalty score marked the first goal of her four-year career.

Saturni Plays Hero: Abby Saturni ’18 chose a great time to net her second goal of the season as her score with 11:02 left on the clock lifted EC to the 2-1 win over Alvernia. She now has five points in her rookie campaign, coming from two goals and an assist.

Looking Ahead: The Purple and Gold have a short turn-around as they return to action on Saturday, October 18th for their final home game of the season. EC will take on Houghton College in a crucial Empire 8 contest at 1:00 p.m.
