Elliot & Brown met in ’93. They worked together

for a number of years until a change in circumstances

lead them in different directions but they remained

great friends.

A chance conversation almost twenty years later grew

into a determination to channel their unique experience

into building a new kind of watch, one that would

suit their lifestyle - durable enough to hold its own in

extremes, but handsome enough to wear every day,

the sort of watch they’d never want to take off.

Their vision is to re-think the art of watch design,

with functional innovations that are as simple as they

are effective, and with beautiful engineering at the heart

of everything.

Elliot & Brown are outdoors people, living and working

in a natural coastal playground on the edge of Europe’s

largest natural harbour.

It’s their inspiration to build elegantly functional ‘tool’

watches to wear all day, every day, with innovations and

details that don’t shout, but once you know they’re there,

there’s a sense that whoever made it, did so with a depth

of knowledge, passion and craftsmanship.

Elegant lines disguise go-anywhere do-anything

credentials. Shock and water resistant with a wealth of

subtle detailing including an internal bezel for everyday

timing duties make it the watch you’ll reach for the most.

A host of strapping and colour options turn the Canford

from elegant dress watch to tactical pilot.

44MM CASES

Classic lines, contemporary size.

Forged and precision CNC machined

from solid 316L marine grade stainless.

Finishes include brushing, polishing and

sandblasting with gunmetal or black

PVD options. Designed for any wrist size.

COMFORT CASE BACK

Stamped, machined, sand-blasted,

laser-etched, brushed and polished

surfaces minimise the contact area for

comfort in hot conditions. Bolted down

(not screwed down) to ensure consistent

sealing and perfect compression for

the shock absorbing elastomers to

function correctly.

MOVEMENTS

Fully manufactured in Switzerland

Canford: 5 jewel gold-plated Isaswiss

331-103, 5 year silver oxide power cell

with end of life indicator on seconds

hand.

Bloxworth: 13 jewel gold-plated Ronda

5030D Chronograph – provides tactile

feedback when push buttons are

depressed with sweep-back reset and

split time. 5 year silver oxide power cell.

MOVEMENT SHIELD SYSTEM

Swiss movements are encased within

a floating steel housing, suspended by

special shock absorbing elastomers to

help reduce the effects of vibration

and knocks.

CROWNS AND PUSH BUTTONS

6mm crowns and 5mm pushers

are aggressively knurled so they’re

easy to use even with wet or muddy

fingers. Engraved either with the EB

shield logo or with a triangle on the

Canford to indicate operation of the

internal rotating bezel timer. Crowns

are individually finished with brushed,

polished or PVD coating to complement

every model.

CLOSED CROWN SYSTEM

Every crown and pusher mechanism

contains a unique triple sealing system.

It works in any position to prevent

ingress of water or dust even if the

crown is left in the ‘out’ position.

It eliminates the need to remember to

screw the crown down before contact

with water.

TIMING BEZELS

The Canford has an internal

bi-directional timing bezel operated

via the top crown. The mechanism is

damped for smooth, silent timing duties.

The Bloxworth has a traditional divers

external 120-click uni-directional bezel

with a castellated edge for secure

grip. The coloured, numbered inlay

is precision CNC machined from

aluminium alloy with deeply engraved,

in-filled markings.

CRYSTALS

The Canford Crystal is made from

convex 2.8mm hardened and tempered

mineral crystal. The Bloxworth crystal

is made from flat 3.5mm hardened and

tempered mineral crystal. Both have a

special anti-reflective treatment on the

inner surface for clear visibility in all

light conditions.

We chose hardened and tempered

mineral crystal for it’s superior impact

resistance versus sapphire. We batch

test for impact resistance by dropping

a 17mm steel ball bearing half a metre,

three times onto the same crystal. The

MOD specify mineral crystal for their

issued watches.

LUMINOSITY

All dials and hands are bold and easily

legible in poor light conditions.

We use Superluminova luminous

to infill hands, indices, most 0-20

markers on the Bloxworth bezel and to

infill the engraved shield logo on most

strap clasps.

Superluminova will glow for up

to 8 hours after a full “charge” in

daylight. Please note that coloured

SuperLuminova will exhibit a natural

drop in performance at night due to the

added colour pigment.

INTERCHANGEABLE STRAPPING

All straps are interchangeable,

meaning it’s possible to create many

100’s of individual styles simply by

changing the strap.

LEATHER STRAPS

Cut from premium, oiled, water-resistant

leather and lined with supple nubuck.

All leather straps are fitted for a smooth

transition with the watch case and held

in place with solid steel bars for added

strength.

Single fold deployant clasps are colour-

matched to every watch with a deep

engraved shield logo in-filled with

SuperLuminova to help find your watch

when it’s upside down at night.

3 LINK BRACELETS

Made from 316L Stainless with CNC

machined solid links, solid screw in bars

for adjustment and half-link fine-tuning

using the clasp bars.

Finishes include brushing, polishing and

PVD coatings.

The sturdy CNC machined deployant

clasp features 2 micro extension

positions for use over a summer

or winter wetsuit with the EB

shield engraved and in-filled with

SuperLuminova.

Page 26: Elliot Brown watches 2014 lookbook
Page 27: Elliot Brown watches 2014 lookbook

CANVAS STRAPS

Cut from washed canvas with a supple

nubuck lining. ‘Straight’ non-fitted ends

with solid stainless strap bars allow for

smaller wrist sizes.

Single fold deployant clasps are

matched to every watch with a deep

engraved shield logo in-filled with

SuperLuminova.

STRAP DURABILITY TESTING

Test 1: Tension and torsion testing

A 5kg weight is hung from one end of

the strap, the other is held in a clamp

that rotates back and forth 5000 times

creating highly accelerated wear and

tear far in excess of anything that could

be considered “normal use”. Every type

of strap must pass this test with no

signs of wear.

Test 2: Abrasion testing

All leather strap types are subject

to abrasion testing to make sure the

premium oiled leather won’t wear

prematurely. A 1kg block with a

coarse pad is rubbed over the strap

150 times when the strap is dry and

again when wet.

Test 3: Flex testing

Leather and canvas straps are subjected

to a test that repeatedly bends and

stretches the strap 4000 times to make

sure the materials are durable and won’t

crack even when they are well used.

WATER PROTECTION

Screw down crowns are only as good as

the user - they can leak if not screwed

down properly. So we devised a sealing

system that provides 200m of water

resistance, 100% of the time, using

unique triple seals that are incorporated

into every crown and pusher.

Solid stainless case-backs are

bolted down not screwed down

because bolting compresses the seal

perfectly with no risk of damage from

rotational friction.

Every watch is pressure tested

two times in air pressure at

150m/15ATM during construction,

then submerged in a water-filled

pressure vessel and wet pressure

tested to 200m/20ATM for 10 minutes.

Because we test every watch, you can

be confident that “water-resistant”

means what it says.

Page 28: Elliot Brown watches 2014 lookbook
Page 29: Elliot Brown watches 2014 lookbook

EXTREME SHOCK TESTING

We batch test beyond ISO1413 using

a 3kg steel pendulum hammer. The

hammer is swung from a specific point

just above the horizontal; it accelerates

under gravity then smashes into the

watch at the bottom of the down-swing.

The force applied at the point of impact

is circa 5000G and the hammer hits the

watch with such force that it has to be

caught in a catch net.

In addition to the technical ISO test,

there’s no substitute for real world

testing, so we also take several watches

from each batch and drop them

repeatedly from over a metre onto a

hardwood block.

BURN TESTING

After assembly, every watch is rotated

through all possible orientations for

24 hours to check for timekeeping

accuracy. Checking the watch in every

possible position shows up difficult-to-

find faults like incorrect hand fitting.

Every watch must pass this test.

PRESENTATION CASE

Every watch is delivered in a dark grey

canvas wrapped box with the Elliot

Brown logo embossed into the padded,

hand stitched top section.

To protect it in transit, the watch is

secured on a branded oval cushion,

with a screwdriver included for easy

self-adjustment of metal bracelets.

WARRANTY

A 12 month warranty covers the whole

watch (not just the movement).
