Key Stage 3 Science

During Key Stage 3, students follow a balanced Science curriculum, covering aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

In Year 9, we start the year with three transition units which have been designed to build on the work covered in Years 7 & 8 and prepare pupils for the demands of the GCSE course. In Term 2 we begin teaching the first Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics of the GCSE syllabus.Year 9 will be studying the new Edexcel GCSE course which will be accredited this year.

What will I Study? Each year is based around a different set of topics that provide a broad and balanced curriculum in Science.

In Years 10 and 11 pupils study Edexcel Core Science (Year 10) and Additional Science (Year 11).

We also have a small group of selected pupils in Year 11 who also study GCSE Further Additional Science to achieve a Triple Science qualification (these are offered as additional sessions outside of the regular school timetable).
