Elizabeth A. Murphy President, The Murphy Group, Inc. Elizabeth A. Murphy is a recognized strategic thinker and facilitator with 30 years of experience working in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. Her consulng firm, The Murphy Group, Inc., specializes in designing and facilitang dynamic stakeholder engagement meengs; creang original projects for philanthropy and nonprofits; strategic planning; program and resource development; coalion and team-building; and board and staff retreats for opmizing missions and visions. Her firm has provided services for a wide range of missions including healthcare, the arts, disaster response, educaon, and community advocacy. Select projects include: Since 2012, in a part-me posion, Murphy has led the development and execuon of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundaon’s statewide iniave Creave New Jersey which focuses on fostering cross-sector collaboraon and “building beer communies through creavity, collaboraon and inclusion.” In January 2016, she launched The Disaster Philanthropy Playbook, a mul-year joint project of the Council of NJ Grantmakers (CNJG) and the Washington DC-based Center for Disaster Philanthropy (www.disasterplaybook.org), which was co-conceived, managed, researched and wrien by Murphy. This one-of-a-kind naonal resource highlights key strategies, innovave pracces and lessons learned that philanthropies naonwide have developed and implemented in response to disaster preparedness and recovery. In 2014/15, Murphy was a member of the founding team responsible for launching Pre-K Our Way, a statewide iniave launched by Maher Charitable Foundaon. Prior to founding her consulng firm, much of Murphy’s career was spent working in the theatre. She has produced over 125 theatrical producons throughout New York City, New Jersey, Belfast, Dublin, London, Edinburgh, and Australia (primarily world premieres, but also as the assistant producer for Broadway shows and US Naonal Tours including the Tony Award winning Falseos, the Tommy Tune Producon of Grease starring Rosie O’Donnell, and My Fair Lady starring Richard Chamberlain). Murphy is a member of the Regional Planning Authority’s tri-state Commiee on the Fourth Regional Plan, and has been an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, the University of Nevada/Las Vegas, and Hofstra University.
