INTRODUCTION - NET

ELIGIBILITY - NET

• The UGC (NET) Humanities is conducted by the University Grants Commission.

• The UGC(NET) Test will determine the eligibility of Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for appointment of Lecturers (LS) in Universities and colleges in the subjects falling Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Application and Electronic Science.

• The UGC(NET)Humanities Test comprises of 3 papers of objective type questions.UGC conducts NET twice a year i.e. in the months of June and December.

• The ELITE-UGC (NET) package has been designed with a view towards generating supreme confidence for success at the UGC (NET) Test.

• ELITE-UGC (NET) course is also useful to prepare for State Eligibility Test

(SET/ SLET) of various States.

(i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) (50% marks for SC/ST/PH/VH) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Applications, Electronic Sciences etc. are eligible for this test.

(ii) Candidates who are in the final year or have appeared for Master's degree or equivalent examination can also apply for the test. However, such candidates will be considered eligible for JRF/LS only after they have passed the Master’s Degree examination or equivalent with atleast 55% (50% marks for SC/ST/PH/VH) marks. These candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

(iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination were completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for relaxation of 5% of marks(i.e from 55% to 50%) to appear in NET Examination.

(iv)Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post Graduation only. The

candidates whose PG subjects is not covered in the list of subjects provided by UGC,

may appear in the subject related to the one they had at PG.

EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURERSHIP)

1. For Ph.D candidates : NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET / SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.

SCHEME OF THE TEST

The candidates who have passed the UGC / CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.

2. For SET Candidates : The candidates who have cleared the State Level Eligibility Test (SET ), accredited by the UGC for Lectureship prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in the NET being eligible to apply for Lecturership anywhere in India. For SET examinations scheduled in or after June 2002, the qualified candidates shall be eligible to apply for the post of lecturer only in the university/ colleges belonging to the same state whose SET Examination they have cleared. However, those candidates are also eligible to apply for appearing in the NET, if they so desire.

AGE LIMIT : The upper age limit for being eligible for the test is as under :

(a) For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Candidate should not be more than 28 years on 1-6-2016 for June 2016 Exam and 1-12-2016 for Dec. 2016 Exam, relaxable upto 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH and women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. 3 years relaxation in age will be permissable to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree.

(b)For Lecturership :

There is no upper age limit for Lecturership.

THE TEST WILL CONSIST OF THREE PAPERS

Paper-II will consist of 50 objective type questions of 2 marks each all of which are compulsory based on the subject selected by the candidate. The candidates will have to mark their response for each question on the answer sheet attached at the end of the test booklet. Total Marks of Paper - II will be 100.

Paper-III will have 75 objective type questions based on the subject selected by the candidate, all of which are compulsory. These will be of 2 marks each. Total marks of Paper - III will be 150.

Note: ALL QUESTIONS OF PAPER - II & PAPER - III WILL BE COMPULSORY, COVERING THE ENTIRE SYLLABUS. (INCLUDING ALL ELECTIVES, WITHOUT OPTIONS)

Paper-I will consist of 60 multiple choice questions of two mark each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50 questions. The paper shall be of general nature intended to assess the teaching / research aptitude of the candidate. It is designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension and divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated. Total Marks of Paper - I will be 100.

VALUE OF FELLOWSHIP

The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in Paper - I, Paper - II and Paper - III as given below:-

Only such candidates who obtain the minimum required marks in each Paper, separately as mentioned above, will be considered for final preparation of result. However, the final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Lecturership shall be decided by UGC before declaration of result.

The total marks and duration of Papers I, II & III are as given below:

There will be no negative marking.

Candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowships will be eligible to receive fellowship under various schemes subject to finding their placement in the University / IITs / Other National Organisations.

The validity of the offer is one year w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF award letter. However, in case the candidate has already joined M.Phil/Ph.D., the date of commencement of fellowship will be from the date of declaration of examination result.

The progress of the research work done by a JRF on the completion of two years of the award may be assessed as per the procedure laid down by the Commision. The fellowship may be withdrawn if the work is not considered satisfactory. Candidates who will qualify the test for eligibility for Lectureship will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Lecturers of the concerned Universities/Colleges/State Govts. etc. Candidates qualifying JRF shall avail the award within one year from the date of issue of the award letter.

A Correspondence Course for students appearing in the UGC (NET) for JRF and Lecturership Examination (in Humanities).

The course material is based on NET syllabus prescribed by UGC. The course material is designed in the best possible manner to equip students with the knowledge and confidence required to pass the exam.

Paper - II - The course material will contain important theory parts in brief and a large number of objective type questions with answers.

Paper- III (A) The course material will consist of extensive theory covering important topics. It will also contain objective as well as descriptive questions and answers.

The course materials for Paper-II and Paper-III (A) together will be provided in 10-15 volumes.

Paper - III (B)

The course materials will cover the electives from each subject. These will contain descriptive theory alongwith objective type questions with answers and also essay type questions and answers. We offer the following electives in each subject.

Additional objective type questions for Paper-III will be provided at the end of the course.

There will be no negative marking .

The Course material for the elective only will be provided in 1 or 2 volumes.

As the syllabus is the same for Paper-II, Paper-III(A) and Paper-III(B) [that is, no separate electives for Paper-III(B)], the course material for Paper III(B) is included in the course material of Paper II and III (A).

6. ENGLISH

Course material will be provided in one or two volumes for the following electives.

a)Indian writing in English and Indian Literature in translation.

b)American and other non-British English Literatures.

c) Literary Theory and Criticism.

d)History of English Language, English Language Teaching

7. GEOGRAPHY

As per the syllabus, there is no separate Electives for Paper III (B) which is combined with Paper III (A). (Syllabus for Paper III A and B are common).

8. HISTORY

Course material will be provided in one or two volumes for the following electives.

a)Ancient Indian History

b)Medieval Indian History

c) Modern Indian History

9. HOME SCIENCECourse material will be provided in one or two volumes for the following electives.

a) Food and Nutrition

b) Institutional Management and Dietetics

c) Child and Human Development

10.LIBRARY & INFORMATION SCIENCE

RULES AND REGULATIONS

2. The Fees should be sent by At par Cheques / Demand Draft / Online Transfers /

Money Order in the name of “Elite Academy ” payable at Mumbai.

3. In case of online transfer, kindly send your Transaction Record printout.

4. In case you do not have online transfer facility at your end, you can visit any bank having core banking facility and make the payment for online transfer and kindly send your Transaction Record printout.

5. The Fees may also be tendered in CASH at the Office counter against our receipt when

admission forms are handed over personally at the office.

6. Full Fees are to be paid at the time of admission.

7. The Fees once paid will not be refunded or transferred in part or full under any
