Hey Parents! Welcome to the Elevate SKM Passport. This resource is a way for us to better partner with you as we try and live out this concept of ORANGE (family and church working together to lead kids to a relationship with Jesus). In this resource you will find:-An overview of every Sunday's lesson, the text, the Big Idea and a Bible verse for kids to remember (Remember This).-A fun family challenge and some questions that you and your kids can explore in the Bible-An activity that focuses back on our lesson, a prayer prompt for the week and some Next Level questions for kids to dig into-Finally a page for kids to take notes or draw pictures to help them remember what they learn in Kids Church on Sundays. Check that page out when you ask them about what they learned this week! Our passport was designed to help inform you of exactly what we at Elevate SKM will talk about each Sunday service. You'll be able to review with your kids the lessons that we've covered while also look ahead on our journey to what's around the corner. So partner with us on this awesome adventure as we journey through the Bible! Help your kid learn some responsibility and take some ownership by encouraging them to bring this passport each week to Kids Church. Each time they come they will get a stamp for the week along with a small prize. If they complete an entire series (3-6 weeks) a larger reward is waiting. Family Challenge:Take a walk as a family around your neighborhood if it's not too cold. As you walk ask your kids to point out things that they see that God made. See if they can remember what day of creation they were made. (If you can't walk, do it as you drive around town!) Look in the book Questions (Genesis 1): 1. Family Challenge:Have everybody in your family choose someone else in your family and write them a note. In that note tell them some of the ways that they see the image of God in them. Think about what we know about God (He is loving, He is creative, He is good). What things do you see in each other that point back to our great creator? Look in the book Questions (Genesis 1-2): 1. What does Gen. 1:26 say about how humans are different than the rest of creation?2. What job did God give humans in Gen. 1:26?3. What were the names of the man and woman? Where did they live? 4. Family Challenge:Find something really heavy in your house that neither you nor your kids can lift. Tell them that you want them to try and pick it up and carry it around with them for the rest of the evening. ASK if they could actually do it. ASK why or why not. SAY there are some things that we can't do by ourselves even as adults. Dealing with sin is something that is bigger than us and it's why we needed God to send Jesus to take care of our sin problem. Family Challenge:This one might be a little on the challenging side, but it's worth the conversation. Spend some time talking about decisions and consequences with your kids this week. Make a specific list of things that YOUR kids do that are sinful or disobedient (same thing) and what the consequences of those decisions are. Talk to them about how God punishes sin and it's a big deal. Then spend some time thanking God for sending Jesus to pay our price. Look in the book Questions (Genesis 6-9): 1. How does God describe humans in Gen. 6:5? What did He decide to do v.7? Who found favor in His eyes v.8?2. How is Noah described in Gen. 6:9? What does that mean (see Gen. 6:22 and 7:5)?3.
