Elephant & Piggie’s We Are In a Play!
Theater Performance
www.trustarts.org/pghkids
I am going to the Byham Theater!
I am going to watch a theater performance called Elephant and Piggie’s We Are In a Play!
We can use this map to help find the Byham Theater.
Here are things I will see on the day of the performance!
This building is called the Byham Theater.
I will go here to see the performance.
The Main Door
I will walk through these doors to get inside.
Entering the Theater
The man holding the door is the doorman. He will welcome me to the theater.
The Reception
We may wait in line here with other people to pick up our tickets.
The Inside Doors
Once we have our tickets, we will walk through these doors inside the Byham Theater.
The Hallways
I will walk through these hallways before I go into the theater. The hallways will be
filled with people.
Activities
There will be some fun activities in the lobby.
Going Into the Theater
This is where I will wait to go into the theater with other children. I will try my best to
be calm while I wait my turn. I can hold my grown-up’s hand, take deep slow breaths, or
squeeze a squishy star the ushers will give me if I need one.
The Ushers
The ushers will be dressed in purple or white festival shirts. I will show them my ticket.
They can also help me find my seats or give me a squishy star to squeeze. I can talk to
them if I need any help while I’m in the theater.
Tickets
I will show my ticket to the ushers when it is time to go into the theater.
Where are the bathrooms?
The bathrooms are downstairs.
Bathrooms
I can ask my grown-up if I need to use the bathroom or get a drink from the water
fountain.
Seats
This is what the seats will look like in the theater.
Seats
Here is a picture of the seats with people in them.
Elephant and Piggie’s We Are In a Play!
I am going to see a performance called Elephant and Piggie’s We Are In a Play! The
curtain may be down when I enter.
These are the actors. Piggie is wearing pink. Gerald is wearing gray.
They are best friends in the performance.
The actors will be very silly sometimes. The actors will sing and dance during the
performance. I will hear music and funny noises.
The actors will use many props. They may also change costumes throughout the show. I
will see many different colors and textures.
There will be loud music and singing at certain parts of the show. The actors will dance
often. There will be a lot of noise and movement.
They actors may seem confused or frustrated at times, but they will always find solutions
for their problems together.
The lights might dim sometimes, but the theater will never get too dark.
When the performance is over, the actors may bow. This is when you can clap to show
how much you enjoyed the show!
During the Performance
During the performance, I will stay in my seat. If I feel scared, I can cover my ears,
squeeze something squishy, or hold my grown-up’s hand. I can also ask my grown-up to
take me to a quiet place if I need a break.
Clapping
People clap at the end of a performance to show that they enjoyed the show. If I think
the clapping is too loud, I can cover my ears.
Leaving the Theater
After the performance is over, we will get any jackets and bags, throw out our trash, and
leave the theater.
The Festival
I will find more fun activities located throughout the neighborhood. If my grown-up says
it is okay, they can take me here before or after the performance.
We hope that you have a great time
at Elephant & Piggie’s We Are In a
Play! and the rest of the EQT
Children’s Theater Festival!
If I want to learn more, I can ask
my grown-up to watch a preview
online!
