Within the next pages, I have concentrated years of training and work
experience. I intend to show what I love and know how to do, but what
I think is most important, I have tried to express what I am aiming for
my future.
The following is work in progress. I am open to learning new approaches
towards architecture and work, further to what I had the opportunity of
doing so far.
I have experienced construction over my working years and have
extensive design knowledge that I gained at university. I believe this is a
solid base to address the next step in my career.
Please, don’t hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to talk about how I
can contribute to the practice and the information shown hereunder.
Sincerely,
Elena

I am an architect with a Master’s degree in Architecture Design and Building Conservation from the Polytechnic University in Madrid. I am looking forward
to continuing my professional development as an architect by utilising and enhancing my problem solving and design skills across all stages of design.
I have a strong work ethic and am committed to evolving in my career by facing new challenges with enthusiasm and rigour.
I began my architectural education encouraged by the idea that well design spaces positively influence and enrich people’s lives and I still deeply believe
in this ethos. I would like to implement this architectural ambition through hard work, the sharing of knowledge, and the contribution of new ideas to
get the most out of every project. As part of continuing my professional development I often attend lectures, courses and participate in competitions.

During my time at RISE I was responsible for leading some small-medium size projects under the supervision
of the practice director. I learnt to effectively manage several projects at one time and undertake day-to-day
tasks efficiently.
Relevant experience:
• Residential and retail projects
• Initial concept design to construction stages
• Participating in client and site meetings
Walters & Cohen is a medium size practice where I have participated in several educational projects across
different design stages. During a year and a half I worked on a new nursery building for a public school in East
London, Sandringham Central. I joined the project as an architectural assistant during design development
stage and gained enough experience to be able to manage the construction works on my own through to
completion on site. The project was awarded with the RIBA London award 2018.
I have also been involved in the renovation of an independent school near Hammersmith in London, and in
the construction of new accommodation facilities for Newnham College in Cambridge, completed in summer
2018, whose outstanding design has being recognized with the RIBA East Award 2019, RIBA East Building of
the Year 2019 and RIBA National Award 2019 among others.
And I have recently completed the construction works of The King’s International School in Canterbury, a
mixed use building that will provide accommodation for up to 80 overseas students.
Relevant experience:
• Concept design, design development and construction stages
• Attending client and consultant meetings
• Producing documentation to achieve a cost-effective building while maintaining the client brief
• Preparing presentations and reports for clients and statutory bodies
• Coordinating information with other members of the design team
• Attending progress meetings during construction.
• Monitoring progress on site
• Responding to site queries

R E S E A R C H Urban scale project. My final thesis project explored the creation of a new urban development generated
by a system based on the ‘courtyard’. It included all typical city infrastructures in addition to 10.000 houses
across 33 hectares. The project aimed to improve the local standard of living and economy of the district.
A complete training. I worked across all scales and parameters that typically determine a real-life project.
I delineated and defined rules and strategies for the development of the neighbourhood, and produced
general plans, sections and detailed construction drawings, underpinned by structural calculation as well
as other information.
I learnt to develop a project from a socio-economic concept through to technical definition, and improved
my knowledge in social housing and residential schemes.

Dorothy Garrod building at Newnham College
Cambridge
Client: Newnham College
The new facilities at Newnham College are designed to provide an entrance, meeting and lecture spaces, en-suite bedrooms and a social hub for this prestigious Cambridge College. It is a three-story building, seamlessly linked with the historic building through the use of matching materials like brick. The brick facade is rich in details and ornaments, using a contemporary language to establish a dialogue with the existing construction by integrating new and old. The entrance body offers a new welcoming space and security area facing the street and gives access to the public areas of the building as they are the cafe and conference room.
