Elements of Fiction - Character Protagonist – is the central figure in the story. Antagonist – is a character who is pitted against a protagonist. Foil Character - is a character that shows qualities that are in contrast with the qualities of another character with the objective to highlight the traits of the other character. Major Character – has a significant role in the action of a story. Minor Character – a non dominating, often supporting, role in the development of the story. One Dimensional Character (Flat Character) – exhibits a single dominant quality. Three Dimensional Character – exhibits the complexity of traits associated with rational and or intentional actions.

  Protagonist – is the central figure in the story.

  Antagonist – is a character who is pitted against a protagonist.

  Foil Character - is a character that shows qualities that are in contrast with the qualities of another character with the objective to highlight the traits of the other character.
