Elementary Summer 2021 Instructional Expectations Scope and Sequence | Camp CMS Student Kit| Elementary Camp CMS Instructional Toolkit The purpose of this document is to provide guidance aligned to House Bill 82to scheduling leaders/teams to use for elementary school in-person Camp CMS master scheduling. A regular Camp CMS day lasts 7 hours (420 minutes) for four days each week. In grades K-5 , approximately 375 minutes or 6 hours and 15 minutes are devoted to instruction for all content areas. Schools will provide students with 45 minutes for a daily lunch period and daily physical activity. Additional information regarding assessments is forthcoming. Students with an Individual Education Program (IEP) will be provided EC support needed to access CampCMS. English Learners will receive identified services School Level Student Data (e.g., EOY Feedback forms) shall support dierentiation to meet student needs House Bill 82 requires that all students in K-5 completecompetency-based assessments, given at the beginningand end of the program for each content area. Data fromthe assessments will be reported to the Departmentof Public Instruction. More information forthcoming. K-2 Minimum Minutes 3-5 Minimum Minutes EL Education Module Block (Core) Teachers explicitly teach and formally assess all reading comprehension, writing, speaking and listening, and language standards and strands of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) for English LanguageArts & Literacy. Module 4 for Grades K-2 and 4-5, and Grade 3 Module 3 must be taughtfor 60 minutes without interruption. Supplemental and intensive interventions may not be provided during this time. 60 60 EL Education Foundational Skills Block [SMALL GROUPS] Dierentiated SMALL GROUP Instruction: Teachers meet with 2-3 dierentiated small groups based on the individual foundational skill needs of students guided by microphases. 45 EL Education LABS Story Time (Core): Teacher conducts a read aloud with a rich text to students. Supplemental and intensive interventions may not be provided during this time. 20 EL Education Additional Language & Literacy (ALL) Must come after Modules. Implement Modified ALL Block as needed. provided as indicated by 2020-2021 intervention plans or informationobtained during Camp CMS.

EC Support: Based on the individualized needs of identified students with disabilities, ECsupport may be provided during W.I.N. time. Appropriate EC supports for students attendingCamp CMS are to provide access to the program and can include provision ofaccommodations and modifications, co-teaching, small group instruction, individualinstruction and related services, if needed, such as a nurse. Direct instruction on IEP goalswill not be included.

Enrichment -Specials

H.B. 82 Feb. 15, 2021 “Summer Learning Choice forNC Families” requires for grades K-5 “atleast one enrichment activity. The local school administrative unit shall have discretion inthe type of enrichment activity o�ered, such as a sports, music, or arts program.”

Summer Learning Sites will have the flexibility todeliver instruction to meet the minimumtime requirements. Sites should leverage the enrichment/specials areas that are strengthsof the site to maximize student engagement.

*Instructional strategies for enrichment-specials may include research, application, smallgroup instruction, whole group instruction, station rotation, student conferencing, directinstruction, student presentations, peer feedback, group collaboration, project-basedlearning, problem-based learning, and independent work time.
