  • Exercise A: Numbers 1 to 10

    Dear Joan,

I'm sorry I didn't write to you sooner. I've been very busy with school, swimming practice and music lessons.

School examinations began last week. My lessons this year are very difficult and I must study a lot. I'm not good at mathematics and physics, so after school I do private lessons in those subjects at home. The teacher who comes to my house is very good. We did a lot of work together and so I did very well in the mathematics and physics exams at school. The most difficult exam was history. I only answered three questions. I didn't have enough time to prepare for it because I had to go to my swimming practice.

Next week will be a difficult week. I have to study for three more school exams and also for the end of the year exams at the music school. I will be at the music school for two hours every day. After my music lessons, I will have swimming practice for two more hours. My friend, Paul, is having a birthday party on Saturday but I won't go. I'll stay at home and rest.

How did you do in your exams? When school finishes, come to Greece for your summer holidays. We can go to Crete together. The village where we stay is near the beach and we can go swimming every day.

    Write to me soon.

    Love,

    Mary
