Jump Shooting

A jump shot is a shot that is released after the shooter has jumped, usually straight up off of two feet, into the air.

Lay Ups

A Lay up is a shot taken around the basket by leaping up under the basket and using one hand to bank the ball off the backboard into the basket.

Dunk A dunk is when a player close to the basket

jumps and strongly throws the ball down into the rim.

It can be done with one or two hands. Basketball players must be very athletic and

Bounce Pass

A bounce pass is a pass that strikes the floor before it reaches the receiver.

Ideally the pass hits the floor about halfway between the passer and target.

The pass is generally the slowest type of pass of the three we will talk about today.

The Chest Pass

A chest pass is a two-handed pass thrown from the passer’s chest in a straight line to the chest area of the receiver.

It is the fastest pass of the three we will talk about today.

Overhead Pass The overhead pass is a pass that is thrown

from over the passers head to a teammate. Players will use this pass to get the ball down

When the ball enters the basket from above the shooting team is awarded 2 points.

Teams are awarded 3 points when the shooter has both feet on the floor behind the 3-point line when he released the ball.
