Tucked away in the Hamptonssits the quiet village ofSagaponack, home to artists,writers and even a formerpresident. The owners of this beautifulhome on Daniel’s Lane needed an escape from thegrind of city life, and the small, peaceful town was justthe place for a weekend refuge. Respected designerBirgit Klein, who is known for her exquisite andthoughtful designs, was brought on “to make thehome feel luxurious but also inviting.”

In order to make the seaside resi-dence both “modern and elegant” butcomfortable for friends and family, thedesigner implemented a combinationof a soothing color palette, fine fur-nishings and kid-friendly fabrics fordurability. Birgit explains this classicstyling: “It needed to be a home wherethey could entertain, but also a spacewhere they could just hang out withfamily and friends on the weekends.With the home being so close to the

bathrooms to give that upscale feel-ing—but not over the top, so it worksfor a family,” Birgit says.Since a great trust and understand-ing existed between the designer andthe owners, the process was fun andsimple. The close location of the Atlantic Ocean enhanced much of theinterior. Birgit says, “It was easy to formulate a color palette since it is abeach house a block away from theocean. Naturally, we pulled shades ofall blues, pale greens and sand colorsto use throughout the house. To keep itfresh and contemporary, we groundedit with different shades of white.” Fromthe opulence of the bed sheets to therestful, plump cushions of the windowseats, this is a seaside home to love.
