A commitment ceremony by any name, even in Age of Corona, can still capture the beauty, magic and joy of celebrating with close-knit family and friends … and here at our ranch, we’ve created a simple, all-inclusive package with our wonderful vendors partners and thoughtful advance planning to remove any Corona-related stresses. This is our 6th year of hosting weddings, events and guests at our ranch, and we’re excited to re-open our home for you, your family and friends. Elegant & Easy Our package is simple-by-design, so you can spend less time planning, and more time enjoying. Get married now, and have an amazing party later. We offer two options:

All Inclusive: $7,500

We provide an incredible photographer, local florist (also the growers), live music, and a wedding coordinator to assist with details - from vows and officiant, reception planning and optional add-ons such as additional flower arrangements, videographer and drone photography, and guidance with all Corona-related details.

Venue Only: $3,000

Both options include management of all Corona-related details, parking, ceremony seating, arbor, restroom and many other amenities. Please inquire about additional services and vendors, including officiant, videographer, drone photography, and live streaming.

Flow of Event Over the course of about 2 ½ hours: You arrive dressed to the nines and ready-to-roll; pre-ceremony photography, guests arrive and are guided to their seats with a soloist playing violin or guitar; ceremony; more photography, and then off-site reception. Corona Considerations We host only outdoor ceremonies for up to 25 (socially distanced) guests. Capacity To help assure the health and safety of our guests and staff, we’ve developed extensive protocols in coordination with regulatory agencies. For more nuts and bolts corona logistics (and there’s a lot), please see below. Time of Year July through October is the best weather, though other months can be stunning (we’d just want to have contingency plans in case of rain). Time of Day We offer two times each day: 11:00pm-2:00pm, and 4:00-7:00pm. Ceremony Sites We have two locations, both with stunning views of Tomales Bay: In a grove of towering, 150+ year-old eucalyptus and cypress trees, or in the beautiful garden in front of our house. Site Visits (All Inclusive only) One site visit, which our coordinator will organize and during which you’ll be able to work out all details. She’ll also guide you through options including floral arrangement, musical selection, and advance coordination with our photographer.

Site Manager Michael or Vivien are on-site for the wedding, helping with everything from parking, corona compliance and however we can be of assistance. Restrooms The house’s downstairs wheelchair accessible restroom in our family home will be available to you and your guests. Placing a ‘Soft Hold’ We are happy to place a ‘soft hold’ for a few days (without requiring any deposit), during which time we’ll draft up a contract for you to review. Booking & Payment Your booking will be confirmed after we receive a signed contract. There will be two payments due: 50% of total fee (non-refundable) upon booking; and 50% due 30 days prior to the event. If booking falls within 30 days of the event, then payment-in-full will be due upon contract signing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How close is the ranch to Tomales Bay? Tomales Bay is, literally, just across the street. Are there hidden charges? Nope! There are a couple of optional extras, but otherwise, all included! Can my dog be part of the wedding? With regrets, we have a strict no pets policy in the pasture, but if your ceremony is held in our garden, we’d love to have your dog join (but only on a leash, please). Can we throw rose petals? Rice? Confetti? Unfortunately, our organic certification doesn’t allow such things. Perhaps, consider bubbles instead? Where can we eat?? There are a few terrific restaurants in our ‘neighborhood’, all of which can accommodate small groups for socially-distanced dining. Nick’s Cove Restaurant, William Tell House, and The Marshall Store are all terrific options. Do you offer overnight accommodations? TBD ... please ask for details. Are you on-site during our wedding? Either Vivien or Michael are on-site for all events, to assist in any way possible.

A little background about our ranch and family Our parents, Bill and Ellen, were refugees from Nazi Europe … Jewish city kids who became California dairy farmers - what a twist of fate! Mom and pop fell in love with this farm and beautiful West Marin. Soon after they arrived, however, they were horrified to learn that developers wanted to convert the land from cows to condos. Indeed, in the early 1970s, all of Marin County’s magnificent agricultural land was master-planned for housing and shopping malls. They became outspoken environmentalists and conservationists, and worked tirelessly to protect Marin from development. In 1980, mom co-founded the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT.org), the nation’s very first organization dedicated to protecting agricultural land from development. Today, MALT has permanently protected more than 50% of all Marin’s agricultural land, and has served as a model for dozens of similar organizations around the country. Then, in the late 1980s, our older brother Albert had a then-crazy idea to transform our farm to organic. A few years later, Straus Family Creamery became the first organic dairy west of the Mississippi. Today, nearly all the region’s remaining dairy farms have converted to organic too. Albert owns the nearby dairy & creamery and, separately, the Home Ranch is owned by Vivien, Miriam and Michael. In 2014, we began by fixing up our 1864 farmhouse (built by the farm’s original settlers), and started offering it as a vacation rental. In 2015, we began hosting weddings and events and, in 2018, completed a major renovation of our historic, 150-year-old barn where dad milked his first cows and our parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary! The fact that we’re able to share this beautiful place, with all of her history and magic, makes us happy beyond words.

Covid Protocols Event Logistics:

● Event Size: No more than 25 guests ● Contact Tracing: Client must provide, in advance, contact details for all

guests and vendors, including: Name, address, email, phone and company (if applicable).

● House access: The downstairs bathroom (wheelchair accessible) of the house is available for the wedding couple, guests and vendors. SHR staff will disinfect frequently.

● Other Farm Buildings: The Hay Barn and Shed are off-limits to all guests. ● Arbor & Benches: Will be set up according to guest preferences and social

distancing requirements.

Ceremony Setup:

● Seating: SHR will provide up to 20 x 6’ wooden benches; benches will be sanitized before each event.

● Seating Design: Benches will be arranged with a minimum of six feet separation for non-household groups; seating should be assigned in advance.

● Arbor: SHR will provide an open-sided arbor, which will be disinfected before every ceremony.

● Event Programs: Printed materials are allowed, provided that they are not shared.

● Cards & Gifts: In order to encourage social distancing, we have great baskets for gifts or cards.

Ceremony Guidelines:

● Upon arrival guests will check in at our welcome booth for their temperature check and to sign a waiver. Any guest not feeling well, should not attend.

● We will encourage guests to remain in their household group as they walk to and from the ceremony site. Guests will look for their pre-assigned seats as guided by the wedding couple. A special accommodation will be made for any guest(s) who may need to drive to the pasture ceremony site.

● Social Distancing: All guests to stay at least 6 feet apart from all other guests (excluding members of the same household).

● Masks: wearing masks is required for all guests. Bridal party exception during ceremony.

● Unfortunately, at the moment, the County currently doesn’t allow eating or drinking before or after the ceremony.

● After the ceremony, within your rental period, enjoy your time (following the social distancing requirements), whether it be for photos and/or catching up with friends and relatives.
