I’m very sad being in the pound, and I hope a new family will adopt me and give me a new chance at life. PLEASE NOTE: Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newslet-ters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting

e-WOOF. In most cases, time is lim-ited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publica-tion. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/or rescues

comes from many, many sources and is an ONGO-

ING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our news-letter is issued. This is an

unforeseen circumstance on our part---while we certainly understand the “crossover”

may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we

hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued

support FOR THE ANIMALS!

5. CHOPPER is a Lab Mix, 8 years old. “I am housebroken and neutered. As you can see, I am a beautiful deep red color. I like people of all ages. I want to be the only dog in a home, so no other dogs for me, please. I like going for walks and will enjoy every minute of every walk. I am playful and I think I might like playing fetch. I really like treats and will enjoy all the treats I am given. I am hoping someone will give me a new chance in life and give me a great home where I can be active with my people. I’ll even be happy to just chill with a new family.”

1. JACKIE is a Corgi/Dachsund/Chihuahua mix. She is cur-rent on shots and weighs 14 pounds. Her birthday is 3/8/10 so a great birthday present would be a new home! We have seen no behavioral problems with this young lady.

Please Note: Several of these dogs have been at the shelter for a long time, some nearly a year. They are all great dogs and need to find their forever home for their physical and mental well being.

1. BELLA is about a 1-1/2 years old. She is current on her shots. She is nervous when meeting new people but warms up after proper introductions. She is a very sweet girl!

2. BROGAN is a fixed male w/claws and he has FIV. He is about 2- 1/2 years old and should have many years left if he is taken care of properly. He is friendly and

sweet and loves his tummy rubbed. He does need to go to a home where he will be the only cat or with other cats that have FIV.

3. CHICO is an altered male Pit-Shar Pei mix and good with other dogs . He is VERY smart and needs a forever home. Chico is about 4-5 years old.

4. SCOOBY is an altered male Pit who is FRIENDLY and gets along with most other dogs. Scooby is about 1-1/2 years old. He has lots of energy and very smart. He needs a forever home.

5. SUNKA is an older lady Pit Bull who is SWEET and SMART. She is willing to learnthings; unlike the old saying-- she CAN and WILL learn new tricks. She is a bit on the protective side.

6. BATOU is an altered male Pit mix who is VERY FRIENDLY and gets along with other dogs but has a tendency to LOVE them too much at times. Batou is approximately 1 year old.

1. NALA is a 2 year old Anatolian Shepherd mix. She is a SWEET girl who likes her people as long as they are HER people. In typical Anatolian fashion she is standoffish with new people but once she warms up, this girl is VERY silly. She likes to play and wrestle with her toys. She LOVES to be scratched and loved on. She will be a great companion for someone just looking for a friend.

2. Harvey is a 1-1/2 year old Heeler mix. He is a NICE boy who is VERY convinced he is a lap dog. This guy came from a New Mexico where he was surrendered by his family. He knows his basic commands and likes people though he is a bit shy at first. He will be a super boy for someone will-ing to give him their time and love!

1. LOUIE is a Boxer/Lab/Pit Bull mix, 3 years old. Louie desperately needs a forever home! His foster mom and dad adore him but they will be traveling in the spring and already have 4 dogs of their own. This handsome fellow is well trained, perfectly house-broken and is not the least bit aggressive. Louie is very alert and athletic, and LOVES to run at full speed. After being raised with a small child and another dog in the house, he loves kids and other dogs. Louie is included in walks with a pack of up to 7 dogs. He accepts all of the dogs and plays with his best friends. He does very well with his foster cat sister. Louie also loves to cuddle and

will stand for an hour with his head in your lap so you can pet him. He would love to find an-other loving, active family with whom he can share his good looks, intelligence and playful spirit! Can you give this boy a forever home?

2. BEAR is a Lab/Chow Chow mix, 3 years old. He came to PAWS after running loose in Chugwater for almost six weeks. Bear was dumped out of an RV at the rest area and continued to look for his family every time an RV pulled in. This sad, lonely boy was too afraid and distrustful to come to the PAWS volunteers, vaca-tioners, and townsfolk who tried to help him. He would travel several miles a day between the rest area and various businesses looking for handouts. He seemed to gravitate toward anyone with children and/or small dogs. Finally at long last, he got weary of his solitary life and wandered into a lady’s yard. She enclosed him on her deck and pro-vided him with a blanket, food and water and was able to get a leash on him the next morning. She then contacted PAWS to secure his rescue.

Bear has been neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is friendly, very playful, gentle and sweet. He loves people, kids and other dogs. He could use some basic obedi-ence skills, but is otherwise ready to become the perfect family pet!____________________________________________________________

Note: Atlas is still at the shelter but doing so much better. He is almost 95% now and loving getting out to play ball and walk. He has surprised everyone with his attitude and will to live. His muscle mass, back legs, are starting to return to normal. Still a funny gait but much improved. He just needs someone to spend the rest of his life with who will help him excercise.

1. ATLAS is a Mastiff/pit bull mix. Meet Atlas! This big, beauti-ful brindle is 10+ years old. Atlas has a friendly, affectionate personality, and he loves to play

ball and do training exercises. He greets everyone with a big smile and a wagging tail. All shelter workers and volunteers really love him! He would be a wonderful friend for the right per-son, someone who knows and loves the large breeds. In October he collapsed and couldn’t get up. He was taken to be checked and the vet seems to think it was some sort of infection of the spinal column. Everyone who deals with him says he never gets upset and is easy to work with. He needs a place to live out his life in comfort and love. Atlas does get along with other balanced pets, main-ly females--not certain how he would handle small animals, cat, or rodents. He does need someone who will spend time training, loving, and exercising him. He will give back the love tenfold.

He is a very special old guy with a lot of love to give for the last part of his life. ________________________________________________________________

1. MYA is a darling little “mini” looking rottweiler with a long tail. She’s about a year old, is already spayed, heartworm negative, mi-crochipped, all shots and wormed. She would be a cute addition to a home where you might love the idea of a rott but aren’t ready for the size. Mya is about 16-18 inches from the floor to the top of her back and she appears to be full grown. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet but is very friendly with other dogs and people and is learning crate training with great success. She appears to be a very smart little girl and is very food motivated so will be easy to train. She would do well in a home with kids that are active too. She would also do well doing some agility work. Mya needs to find her forever home!

1. CHEYENNE must be re-homed immediately. She is too large and active for her present home. Cheyenne is a registered Chocolate Labrador with pointer hunting pedigree. She is 2-3 years old, spayed, and current on all vaccinations. She will be a better dog if she is the only dog and she is just too energetic for small children.

1. GIZMO is a Sheltie mix, 7 years old, and approximately 20 pounds. She is spayed, current on shots, had a recent teeth cleaning and check-up and has no known health issues. She is housebroken, has basic “manners” and sits up, begging (so cute) for treats. She gets along with other dogs, but prefers they aren’t really rambunctious. She is ok with cats and children; however, it would be best if the children were a little older. She can be a little shy at first but warms up and will attach quickly to her person and would love to just have lots of attention and be able to snuggle. She is super sweet and will make someone a great companion. She will be micro-chipped soon and her adoption fee is $50.___________________________________________________________________

1. KOSMO: “Hi, Folks, I’m Kosmo, a three-year-old Labrador Re-triever mix, and I’ve been at the shelter for a long time. I came here very thin and hungry, but they have taken good care of me. I had some problems with a growth on my lower gum. It was not cancer and was finally removed and I’m totally healed. But, happy guy that I am, I kept wagging my tail so much and hitting it against the wall of my kennel so that it was raw and bled all the time. They couldn’t get it healed since I kept injuring it, so they finally decided to dock it. Then it was so sore and hard to heal, that I was miserable and kind of gave up on everything. I didn’t want to eat or go outside or even live, I was so depressed. Staff kept loving me and encouraging me

not to give up and my tail finally healed – and I’m back to my normal happy self. But it sure would be nice to have a real home and my own people. I’m a pretty good boy, totally house-broken and will make a good companion. I love long walks and car rides and having my own nice soft bed. And I don’t have a long tail to break things in the house – so do come see me and take me home!”

2. BLAZE aka “Jack.” Blaze is still here, sadly being overlooked. He is a lanky two-year-old Pit Bull mix and was in a foster home for a while, where he did really well. He knows all the basic commands, does well on leash and is loving and eager to please. He is very energetic so would need an active owner, possibly a jogger. Another young, energetic dog would be great as he loves to roughhouse. He is not adapting to shelter life, so please don’t judge him in his kennel as he leaps, somersaults and barks when people walk by. Once he is out, he is totally different, a really neat dog!

TRANSPORTERS NEEDED...If you can help drive a dog to safety, please join our

transporters list. For more information on volunteering

please e-mail [email protected]

We welcome volunteers from all states.

HAPPY ST. PADDY’s DAY!

Paws2Help is sponsoring a pet out of Metro shelter in

Casper each month, paying for it to be spayed/neutered, receive vaccinations, a health check...everything...to make it more

adoptable.

We are alternating each month be-tween a dog and a cat. The first one, a dog named Slade/Newt was a HUGE success (see this issue’s Happy Tale below).

Our second sponsored animal was a long term cat named Lovey who was also adopted after two days of being advertised as ‘sponsored’! We take them on News 13 to “introduce” the pet. The couple that adopted Slade/Newt said the news segment made all the difference in the world for them. Potential adopters will still have to follow Metro’s adoption guidelines

and pay Metro’s adoption fee. We’re just hopefully making it more adopt-able! Here’s the link to our first TV segment: http://www.kcwy13.com/story.php?id=8192

Of course, donations to help us con-tinue this work are imperative. It costs around $300 per pet to do this and we’ve done two in the past month. We are looking at expanding the program as much as finances and donations will allow. A partial spon-sorship, or any amount of donated money can be combined with others to fully sponsor a deserving dog or cat. Donations are tax deductible and you can specify whether you want to help a dog or a cat.

Thank you! Lisa at Paws 2 Help

[email protected]

PAWS2HELP

Newt was a homeless dog at Casper Metro Animal Shelter. He had been over-looked by adopters and no rescues were able to take him. His time was short as he had been at the shelter for more than two months. As part of a new program, the Rescue Rangers suggested him to be a great dog for a new program sponsored by Paw-s2Help of Casper. Paws2Help

‘sponsored’ Newt, paying for his neuter surgery, vaccinations and a health check-up. He was adver-tised at the shelter and on the internet and within four days he was adopted by a wonderful family in Steamboat Springs! Many, many thanks to Rescue Rangers Kim and Cathy, to Lisa and the

board at Paws2Help, Black Dog Animal Rescue, and Mountain Dog Rescue.

March Low Cost Spay/Neuter ClinicDr. Heather Carleton with the Spay/Neuter Wyoming Program, sponsored by the Animal

Adoption Center in Jackson, has announced that the clinic will be in Casper, WY, on March 18th and 19th

This clinic is a low-cost clinic that helps the people of Casper who cannot afford to have their pets altered.

• Volunteers are needed to help check in the animals, walk the dogs, assist with animals coming out of anesthesia, and anything else that the vets and vet techs need help with.

• No experience is necessary, just a love for animals! • Also, Dr. Carleton will be arriving with her team at about 5:00 p.m. on March

17th and will need help unloading and setting up all the equipment.

If you are interested in helping with the clinic, please either call me at 262-6250 or e-mail me at

[email protected]. Please feel free to forward this to all your friends who might be interested in

helping. If you know of someone in need, please have them call 307-699-5473 to make an appointment. Because there was such a big waiting list from the September clinic, appoint-

ments are limited for this clinic. Appointments are required, no walk-ins will be accepted.
