Bhattacharyya and S. K. Sorkhel performed Electrochemical Discharge Machining on Non-Conducting Ceramics.Signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and the ANOVA analyses are employed. M. L. Harugade, M. V. Kavade, N.V. Hargude have reported, effect of electrolyte solution on material removal rate in electrochemical discharge machining using S/N ratio and ANOVA method.ABOUT TAGUCHIThe Taguchi method was first introduced by Dr. Genichi Taguchi to AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1980.

The Taguchi method is a standardized approach for determining the best combination of inputs to produce a product or service.

A basis for determining the functional relationship between controllable product or service design factors and the outcomes of a process.

Mr. Taguchi gave two important concepts:

1. Concept of Loss Function2.Concept of Robust DesignTaguchi's rule for Manufacturing:

System Design: Choose sub system, mechanisms, develop the basic design etc.

Parameter Design: Optimizing the system quality.

Tolerance Design: Reducing and controlling variation in the critical few dimensions. ABOUT TAGUCHI (contd...)

It can be used for learning about statistics as well as statistical research.

It has the advantage of being accurate, reliable, and generally faster than computing statistics and drawing graphs by hand.

Minitab is easier and more flexible than other static based softwares such as Excel Macros once the data is correctly structured .
