SOUND SYSTEMS 27 51 23 - 1

SECTION 27 51 23 – SOUND SYSTEMS Digital Mixer/Amplifier The digital mixer/amplifier shall use digital signal processing for all mixing and signal processing functions and shall be modular for flexibility in system configuration. The mixer shall comply with the limits for a Class A computing device pursuant to FCC Part 15, Subject J. The mixer shall have a frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 3 dB. The digital mixer/amplifier shall utilize a modular architecture and be capable of up to eight input channels and eight output channels. Eight module ports shall be provided. Module ports shall include four digital input ports and three digital output ports. Each digital input port shall accept two input channels and each digital output port shall provide up to two output channels. All eight module ports shall accept analog input modules and shall support control I/O function modules and analog output modules. The mixer shall have eight independent mixing busses. Two patching loops with line output connections for mix busses 1 and 2 and associated power amplifier inputs shall be provided on the rear panel. All software-based settings shall be accessible from the front panel controls. Thirty-two FLASH memory presets shall be available to store event or scene data. Programming of the mixer input/output routing and digital processor settings shall be event-based. Each input channel shall support event-based [or scene-based] programming of the following settings: channel priority, ducking on/off status, ducking depth, input to output routing, and remote contact activation. Up to 8 priority levels shall be available. Inputs assigned to the same priority level shall operate according to one of three selectable logic rules: First in, first out (FIFO); Last in, first out (LIFO); or mixing. Input channels equipped with the D-001T input module shall support event-based [or scene-based] programming of the following settings: channel priority, ducking on/off status, ducking depth, input to output routing, remote contact activation, VOX trigger threshold, high and low pass filters, 10-band parametric equalization, compression, bass and treble, and loudness compensation. Each built-in output channel and each output channel equipped with a T-001S output module shall support event-based [or scene-based] programming of the following settings: high and low pass filters, 10-band parametric equalization, compression, bass and treble, loudness compensation, and pre-programmed speaker equalization settings. A power off mode setting shall allow selection of whether input and output volume settings revert to pre-programmed default levels or retain the last used setting after the power is turned off and back on. A power on mode setting shall allow selection of whether to revert to the last used preset event at power on, and if not, which preset event is to be active at power on. Security features shall include a key-lock setting to selectively disable user changes to input, output, and/or utility settings. Input and output channels shall be selectable for user lock-out on an individual channel-by-channel basis. Password protection of the lock-out settings shall be available by the use of a user-selected password. The digital mixer/amplifier shall have a built-in RS-232 port for connection to a Windows-based computer for storage and retrieval of setup information and for connection to third-party ascii-based serial control systems. Software to enable PC-based data storage and retrieval shall be provided free of charge. Stored information shall include all software-based settings. The RS-232 port and software shall also provide for future FLASH upgrades of the software-based feature set. Four control contact inputs shall allow event activation by remote dry contact closure. The function of each control input shall be software assignable activate Event, Volume Up/Down (Input or Output), Mute (Input or Output), Power On/Off, Emergency Mute or Synch On/Off (expandable to twelve with C-001T module). Four open-collector control outputs shall allow triggering of external equipment based on event status. The function of each control output shall be software assignable using front panel controls.

Each of two remote volume control channels shall be assignable to allow the volume of any one input or output channel to be remotely controlled using a 10k ohm linear taper potentiometer or a DC control voltage varying over the range of 0 to 10 volts. Each built-in output channel shall meet or exceed the following specifications: Output power: 120 watts per channel with both channels driven, balanced transformer-less (BTL); frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+1, -3 dB); output distortion: 0.008% THD, measured at 1 kHz at rated output power with 22 kHz low pass filter; power bandwidth at rated output: 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.008% THD; recommended load impedance: 42 ohms minimum; output connector: 4-pin removable terminal block. Dimensions (W x H x D) shall be 16.54” x 4.24” (3.5” w/out feet) x 15.55” (420 x 107.6 x 395 mm) and weight shall be 24.3 lbs. (11 kg). The digital mixer/amplifier shall be TOA model A-9120DHM2CU The two channel 24-bit mic/line module shall be TOA model D-001T. The two channel 24-bit output module shall be TOA model T-001T. The 8-in/8-out I/O control module shall be TOA model C-001T. The telephone access zone paging module shall be TOA model ZP-001T. The ambient noise controller module shall be TOA model AN-001T. The ambient noise sensing microphone shall be TOA model AN-9001. The 6-button remote panel shall be TOA model ZM-9001. The 4-button, single potentiometer remote panel shall be TOA model ZM-9002. Power Amplifier The two-channel power amplifier shall use digital class-D circuit topology and shall be configurable to allow one or two channel operation. Power output in two-channel mode with both channels driven shall be: 250 watts per channel into 4 ohms and 170 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The two channels shall be bridgeable to produce 500 watts into 8 ohms. Total harmonic distortion (THD) shall be less than 0.1% at 1 kHz and less than 0.3% from 20 to 20,000 Hz. Frequency response shall be 20 to 20,000 Hz (+/- 1 dB). Hum and noise shall be 100 dB below rated output (A weighted). Crosstalk shall be better than 70 dB (A weighted). Input sensitivity shall be +4 or -10 dBv (jumper selectable) for rated output, where 0 dBv = 0.775 volts RMS. Input impedance shall be 10k ohms for each side of an electronically balanced input circuit. Dual-channel or mono-bridged operation shall be selectable via a rear-panel switch. A rear-panel input mode switch shall allow the selection of parallel mode, whereby the signal feeding the channel 1 input terminals is simultaneously fed to both amplifier channels. Rear panel input connector shall be a 3-pin removeable terminal block for each channel. Rear panel output connector shall be a heavy-gauge M4 screw-terminal barrier strip suitable for spade lugs or up to #10 AWG bare wire. The front-panel attenuators shall be recessed to prevent accidental level changes and may be removed and replaced by included security covers once levels have been properly set. The front panel shall have two sets of four LED indicators to indicate the following conditions for each channel: signal presence at input (greater than - 20 dBv), signal presence at output (greater than 1 watt at 8 ohms), peak clipping, and protection circuit activation. The front panel shall also have removable air filters that may be cleaned and reinstalled without removing the amplifier from a rack. The amplifier shall be forced-air fan cooled with the air intake at the front and exhaust at the rear.

Built-in protection circuitry shall monitor Voltage and current levels to minimize potential damage from overloads, and disable output during shorts, DC offset, or excessive operating temperature over 167°F (110° C) via a relay for each channel. The relay shall also delay amplifier connection to the load during turn-on for 3 seconds while the protection circuitry analyzes the load. Power consumption shall be no more than 120 watts when both channels are driven with continuous pink noise at 1/8 full power into 4 ohms (UL/CSA standard), and no more than 650 watts when both channels are driven with continuous pink noise at full power into 4 ohms. The amplifier shall use only one standard rack-space or 1.75" (44.5 mm) and its dimensions shall be 19" (482 mm) W x 15.8" (401 mm) D x 1.7" (44 mm) H. Front panel finish shall be black anodized aluminum and case finish shall be sheet steel. Weight shall be 11 lbs. (5 kg). The amplifier shall be TOA model DA-250D. Pendant Speaker The pendant speaker shall be a bass-reflex design with a 12cm (5") cone-type woofer and a balanced-dome tweeter, suitable for ceiling suspension mounting. Input impedance shall be easily adjustable with a rotary switch on the top of the speaker. The speaker shall include a transformer having multiple taps of 3W, 15W, 30W, 60W at 100V, 1.5W, 7.5W, 15W, 30W, 60W at 70V, and 0.2W, 0.9W, 1.9W, 3.7W, 7.5W at 25V and 8Ω. The sensitivity at a distance of 1m with a 1W input level applied shall be 90dB SPL. The speaker shall have a frequency response of 110Hz – 20kHz (-10dB). The speaker enclosure shall be constructed of HIPS resin. The grille shall be constructed of surface-treated steel plate mesh. The speaker shall be available in black (PE-604BU) or white (PE-604WU) color. The unit shall have dimensions of ø186 x 275 (H)mm (ø7.32” x 10.83”), and a weight of 2.9kg (6.39lb). The speaker shall be provided with speaker cable, GRIPPLE® hanging wire and safety wire already attached. The speaker shall be certified to UL 1480 UUMW and ULC-S541 standards. The speaker shall be a TOA model PE-604BU or PE-604WU. Ceiling Speaker Shall have the following specifications: Ported bass-reflex design Co-axial: 6.5” cone driver and dome tweeter Wide-dispersion: 120º conical (1-4k Hz avg.) Frequency Response: 60 to 20k Hz Sensitivity: 91 dB SPL (1 W, 1 m) Continuous Power Handling: 180 W (8 ohms) Special diffuser provides wide off-axis high frequency response Metal back-can and safety cable CU2 is UL Compliant for Air-Handling Spaces (UL2043) Removable terminal block with loop-through terminations Overload protection circuitry The speaker shall be a TOA model F-2852CU2.
