ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING THE APPLIED STREAM Students will understand the concepts and processes followed by engineers to manufacture products and deliver services safely as a team. They will apply their skills in mathematics and physics to solve various types of engineering formulae. They will also develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a wide range of electrical components, devices and systems. Applied stream electrical engineering focuses on practical hands-on tasks that develop skills needed in the engineering industry. It allows students to pursue engineering skills in both analogue and digital electronic circuits throughout the various topics covered in the curriculum. Practical experience is gained through installing electronic, lighting and power circuits, while using techniques to test and troubleshoot these circuits. UAE regulations and standards are used throughout the course. The course focuses on principles and applications of electrical machines as well as covering the fundamentals of electrical engineering. Students develop their skills through project work, work placement and industrial visits as well as the development of 9 CoreLife Skills comprising Interpersonal, Foundational Literacies, Critical Thinking, Personal Development, Innovation and Creativity, Technology, Social and Cultural intelligence, Sustainability and Enterprise. A comprehensive Careers Programme supports students identify personal strengths, skills and interests as well as guide them with career choices and develop their employability skills. The work placement programme takes place in Grade 11 and 12 and allows students the opportunity to apply their knowledge to the real world of work. How will I develop my skills?
