Tankless or stored water?Tankless water heaters are a relatively new concept in the uk, but around the world these unique and amazing products have become in many cases the standard choice. by heating the water rapidly on demand the tankless units can deliver hot water to one or many outlets (depending on size and requirements) instantly, this means you only heat the water you need.

by only heating the required amount of water we reduce our fuel costs significantly, but not only that, tankless heaters never run out of hot water. This can be extremely useful in situations where demand can rapidly rise and fall, be seasonal, or very occasional use.

Water heater sizingOn each page of our brochure we have provided all the information required for a professional to be able to assess and accurately size the water heater required, when sizing it is important to consider the style of heater (see above chart), and the physical properties.

TANKLESS - you should consult the flow rate charts carefully and choose a size according to the temperature rise required when the mains is at its coldest such as during the winter months. make sure that the flow rates for this temperature rise are acceptible for your application, if they are not move to the next model up.

STORED - Consider the capacity of your chosen model, and look at the most demanding cases of water consumption, a plumber should be able to look at your application and assess the amount of water being used to arrive at a capacity and style of unit to suit your requirements.

When multi-point application is the first requirementThe new Elite Touch provides compact instantaneous hot water in line with the temperature and flow rate graph shown above. As the unit is instantaneous and doesn’t store water this helps guard against Anti legionella, particularly useful in public areas.

The Elite Touch is happy in many situations such as kitchen, washroom and shower facilities.

It is also the ideal affordable solution to retro fit where the hot water system performs poorly. The specifier should match the output of the Elite Touch by deciding on the correct temperature and flow rate, not forgetting the electrical requirements for the project to ensure the correct amount of water is supplied where its needed.

the thermaQ Midi electric Water Heater can be installed as an unvented item in a number of ways. the following guidelines are designed to help select the correct method prior to installation.

As demonstrated in this selection chart, storage vessels such as the midi require additional parts to allow full usage of our Electric Water Heating range within an unvented water system. These parts are normally installed with a regular unvented water system but are available as purchasable extras from ThermaQ should you require them.

■ Holiday Mode: Programmable from 1-99 days, holiday mode keeps the hot water system on low activity while you’re away, and resumes regular activity upon your return.

■ System Protection: In periods of low heating activity, the time switch will regularly activate to ensure that the heating system does not drop below freezing in order to protect pipes and valve from freezing damage.

■ Landlord Feature: Useful for any properties being rented, the landlord feature allows for home owners to demonstrate to tenants via the room stat when the hot water cylinder and boiler require servicing (for up 31 days before the due date), allowing them to make sure their property is kept in correct and safe working order. Should the system not be serviced in time due to tenant non-cooperation, the landlord is able to pre-program the time switch to reduce the amount of heating the tenant receives (to a maximum of 1 hour per day) until serviced and reset by a competent engineer.

The TQx0064 is a 16 Amp 1 Channel Timeswitch, making it ideal for use with immersion heaters and electric boilers, controlling up to 3kW of heating at one time. It has been designed with the homeowner in mind with easy-to-use function buttons, simple overrides and a clear backlit lCd display. The programmer can be configured for 24 hour, 5/2 day or 7 day operation with preset programs for each mode, and comes with automatic bST/gmT time change clock.

The TQx0064 is packed full of features, including system protection, holiday mode, optional landlord service and a 1 to 3 hour heating boost function available as a top up from the automatic running settings, perfect for social housing.

The answer is in our process. When developing the ThermaQ range of products we set about using the most advanced water heating technology available. When this doesn’t meet the high standards of performance, efficiency and reliability we insist upon, we develop innovative new technology of our own.

These advances come in many forms; Sophisticated duplex stainless steel cylinder construction for maximum strength and corrosion resistance, manufacturing the cylinder with robots for efficiency and technical accuracy, CfC and HCfC free injected foam, encasing the entire system for the best possible heat retention. To prove our confidence in this process, we provide every new Evocyl cylinder with a 25 year guarantee* against manufacturing defects.

Manufacturing our CylindersThermaQ manufacture all our domestic cylinders using duplex stainless steel. duplex has been selected against other materials such as copper, glass lined mild steel and lesser grades of stainless steel due to its substantially higher tensile strength and because it is a low carbon, high chromium content alloy. It allows units to be produced using thinner walls resulting in a lighter unit and offers a superior resistance to all forms of corrosion including, pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

When welding our cylinders a backing gas is used to ensure deep welding penetration and a clean internal weld surface. This ensures the welded area has the same corrosion resistance and mechanical strength as the parent metal.

Once the welding process has been completed the cylinder is ‘pickled and passivated’, this involves coating all internal surfaces of the cylinder with a chemical solution followed by water flushing, restoring the chromium surface finish. This process restores the passive film to all welded areas providing protection against premature corrosion, ensuring the longest possible working life for every cylinder.

With a nominal diameter of only 475mm and sizes from 60l to 210 l our Evocyl Slimline is designed to fit In those smaller awkward spaces. This means many older dwellings with smaller airing cupboards can now enjoy the benefits of mains pressure hot water with fast filling baths and modern showers.

■ Cylinder manufactured from marine grade Duplex Stainless Steel specially selected for its high strength and resistance to stress and crevice corrosion.

■ Lightweight construction with white goods finish.

■ Flat base for additional stability.

■ All plumbing connections are clearly identified and accessible at the front of the cylinder.

■ Pre-fitted pipework.

■ Totally insulated with 100% CFC-Free (ODP zero) polyurethane to minimise heat loss (50mm thick).

■ Long-life 3kW Incoloy immersion heater with integral thermostat and thermal cut-out.

■ 1/2” temperature and pressure relief valve operating at 90°C/7 bar.

■ Smart Stat fitted in bottom as standard.

As part of our desire to fulfil any installation requirement, we can provide our space-saving handmade washing machine frames. These are perfect for utilising space in smaller apartments, meaning that an unvented cylinder can be mounted above a washing machine in an airing cupboard - perfect in combination with our direct pre-plumb units.

Combining these frames with our pre-plumbed direct cylinder range gives a compact and tidy look to the airing cupboard. utilising the Evocyl Air model would also eliminate the need for any expansion vessels, saving further space as well as time on installation!
