YOU MIGHT BE A TECH PERSON.

WHAT WE DO…

• We inspect every car at least once a year.

• At a race impound, we weigh the cars and check items for compliance.

• We get called when someone is building a new car to check it and make sure there won't be a problem when it arrives at the track.

• Drivers buying an existing race car usually call us to look at the car, make sure it's safe and visually right (we don't normally take things apart).

• We answer questions like…..Is this or that compliant? When does my helmet expire? Can I do whatever?

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW…OR NOT…

• You don't need to be a mechanical wizard. None of us are.

• You don't need to memorize the GCR. None of us has. We just know where to look or who to ask.

• We stay current with any new SCCA rule changes by checking the “Fastrack”. It's published around

ththe 20 of every month.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN…

• Our weekend starts the evening before the event.

• After the drivers go to registration they come to us.

Want A Close Up View of Race Cars& A Chance To Meet The Drivers?

• We check their vehicle logbook and gear and issue a tech sticker.

• If the car needs an Annual Inspection (a more in-depth inspection once every year), we're available all weekend to do it.

*When the scales are set up, they're available at some time every weekend whether there is impound or not – (it's nice if we have a few moments for lunch).

• We'll gladly do courtesy weighs but we don't push cars.

• We field questions and check out and write up any race cars damaged during the event.

• We provide results for practice, qualifying and race sessions at Tech.

COME JOIN US!

We have a good time together and get some up close and personal time with the race cars, crew and drivers. We're always happy to show someone with an interest in Tech what we do. We're good at on-the-job-training and you'll have plenty of support.

Oh – and there's always time for some serious bench racing.

INTERESTED?? Contact Rick Henschel, Chief of Tech – [email protected]; or 407-671-6017 (H); 407-314-8230 (C)

2018 Publication DeadlinesIn an effort to keep the content in The Checker as fresh and relevant as possible, a floating deadline will be used typically following Club Racing events. With a set deadline of the 15th of the month(the former system), an event which occurs on the 17th of the month would not be included in the following month’s issue, but two months following said event,

which would make the coverage a bit dated; hence the reason for a “floating deadline.”

The deadlines for submission to The Checker for 2018 are as follows:

• September 5, 2018 • October 17, 2018 • November 28, 2018

District 3 - The March meeting for District 3 was at Logan's Steakhouse on Sandlake Road. We used to meet there several years ago and decided to give it another try. People were either recovering from St. Pete or already at Sebring so attendance was somewhat slim.

Our first quarter is always super busy and this year was no different. Since our February meeting, CFR has held a Race Board Meeting, a BOG and supported the St. Pete Gran Prix. Upcoming is the WEC/Sebring 12 Hour March 13-16 and we get back to our regional program April 6-7 with the TE/Drivers School at Daytona.

Robin Ragaglia held a well attended race board meeting on Feb. 16. Among items discussed were race communications and radio protocol; holding a workers school at Daytona where we would have an opportunity to use fire extinguishers in a live situation; training at the April Drivers School for both drivers and workers and continuing the 6 hour Enduro at the Sebring Labor Day event.

March 1 BOG Recap:

**The January Super Tour exceeded expectations; a Showcase team is in place and working on plans for the May Daytona event; CFR's agreements with both Daytona and Sebring are either completed or in review.

**Solo, RallyX and TE reported good turnouts for their events. Solo will be hosting state championships at Brooksville and RallyX has two new venues scheduled. TE is looking at using the FIRM for novice/standalone events.

**2019 Annual Meeting will be hosted by District 8 at the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village; D3 is evaluating hotel locations for the 2020 Annual Meeting.

**All in all, CFR is financially sound, our programs are successful and we're a busy region.

As always - check the Web, Face Book, MSR or with your Chiefs for the most up to date information and if you're not competing, come be a VOLUNTEER! Experience not needed!

See you at the track!

Central Florida Region Social Media PrinciplesJuly 2018

The Central Florida Region (CFR) believes in open communications and encourages the exchange of ideas on social media whether it's Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, or other internet discussion forums.

The following Social Media Principles have been developed to guide participation in social media, whether the individual is acting personally or in an official capacity on behalf of the Central Florida Region.

1. Don't do anything that breaks the law. Posts that are found to be offensive, cyberbullying, etc. may be subject to legal action.

2. Respect your audience. Be polite and courteous, even if you disagree. Don't use ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenity, your position within the club or engage in any conduct that would not be acceptable. Be careful discussing topics that may be considered objectionable or inflammatory (like religion or politics) or when responding to an offensive or negative post.

3. Show proper consideration for others' privacy. Don't post comments about a fellow member, friend, acquaintance or vendor that could be perceived as harassing, threatening, retaliatory or discriminatory.

Socially Speaking...SOLO

4. Stay on topic. Keep the conversation relevant to the community and contribute to the dialogue.

5. Respect intellectual property rights (such as trademarks and copyright). It's very simple - if the name logo, image, artwork or other material you want to use it is not yours, don't use it.

6. Use your common sense. You are personally responsible for the content you publish on blogs, wikis or any other form of user-generated media. Please remember that the internet does not forget. If you are about to publish something that makes you even the slightest bit uncomfortable, review it.

7. Observe the principles of integrity, professionalism, privacy and impartiality when posting online. CFR reserves the right to remove content from any forum moderated by club officials that it deems inflammatory, off-topic, out of context, spam, promotional or links to third party sites.

8. Please act responsibly. Even if you act with the best intentions, you must remember that anything you put out there about CFR can potentially harm the region. As soon as you appear to act on the region's behalf by distributing information, you are affecting our Central Florida Region image.

2019 CFR Regional Points ChampionshipAs of 02-17-2019

Central Florida Region (“CFR”) has established a deadline for protesting the points awarded to CFR competitors towards the CFR Championship. This deadline is three weeks after the points have been published for each race on CFR's website.

Please be sure to review the points after they have been published following any CFR event in which you were a competitor. If you notice any discrepancies, please bring them to the attention of CFR's Points Keeper, Lyn Hodges Watts. You

may reach her at [email protected]. Be sure to include your name, car number and class, along with a description of the issue. Lyn will research the issue and provide you with a response.

Any revisions to the points will be included the next time that the points are published. Points are published following each event, allowing sufficient time for Lyn to update the points and provide this updated information to CFR's Webmaster and the publisher of The Checker.
