North Valley Chorale
The North Valley Chorale (NVC) is a voluntary, non profit (501 (c)(3)) organization dedicated to the cultural, musical, and social enrichment of metropolitan Phoenix and its surrounding communities. Our sponsors, donors, advertisers and volunteers help us achieve our mission. Join us! We serve all segments of our community by providing affordable and accessible performances of choral music from many traditions, eras, and
cultures. Our repertoire ranges from classical to pop and Broadway. We reach out into the community to serve and lift up those who are suffering and in need. During the holidays and throughout the year we share the gifts of
music, companionship and goods with those who are needy, ill or homeless and their caregivers. This season we are proud to partner with UMOM shelters, the
Banner Alzheimer Institute (BAI), St. Matthew School and several senior living communities. We are proud to be “the choir that cares.”
We are still looking for a few good singers. NVC practices on Wednesday evenings at the Phoenix Boys Choir, 1131 E. Missouri Ave, Phoenix, AZ. Visit us on the web for more information about the NVC.
Call (602) 992-7095 to schedule an audition.

From the Director
I can't believe we are concluding yet another season of music making, and what a journey it has been! We've travelled from Bach's glorious Magnificat with a stop for Faure's divine Requiem, ending on Broadway with our Patriotic salute to this amazing country. Our Chorale family continues to grow. We've lost a few of our friends, welcomed back previous ones and made numerous more wonderful new friends who have brought such joy, wonder and love with them....not to mention their talent and great work ethic! Special thanks to Kelley Jean Bagby for taking on our photo board project her first year with the group! She and her daughter created this so that our audience could get to know ALL the members of the group--not just those who are the most visible. We commissioned our first piece which was a huge success at our Spring concert and we're in the planning stages for our first European tour--not bad for a group that's concluding its 6th season. The greatest asset this group has is its members. I never cease to be amazed at what heights this group can reach. Just when I think I might have raised the bar a bit too high for them, they go and jump over it with room to spare. This doesn't just magically happen but happens because of their commitment to excellence and their downright hard work--mixed of course with just the right measure of fun! They make "coming to work" such a joy for me. A huge thanks to them for all their time spent in learning the music & movement and to their families for giving up of their family time. This really is a family effort. Our choir board headed by Dr. Anita Murcko is THE best. My thanks to each of them--Charley Hudson, Margaret Neno, Gary Thomson, Barbara Hoehne, Kelly Johnson, Dr. Mark Wallace, Carol Rosales and Graham Johnson for their dedication and vision. This is definitely a "working" board and each of them has their responsibilities that they take very seriously. Our group is also blessed by our volunteers under the direction of Karen Thomson who not only has to make sure we have enough volunteers for each of our productions but also has to purchase & package food, make table arrangements, find Raffle items--the list goes on & on. She & her co-worker Margaret Neno spend numerous hours working on our behalf. A huge thanks to her & her team for their hard work. I would be remiss if I didn't say a very special thanks to Shannon Barrett for ALL the hours she has put into the choreography for the group. She not only creates the movement but makes practice videos, works with individuals, small groups, etc. Her daughter Maddie has also been invaluable with her help with the NVC Junior ladies. We're also thankful for her bringing along her friend, David Mancuso who has been a great help to our men's section. The Barrett ladies have been joined this year with the Nyland ladies--Carolyn and Melanie, who have also helped with movement. As you can see it takes many people to create a Broadway experience. I am in awe of Barbara Hoehne who created our Dwarf costumes, Snowman costume, plus all the ladies’ and young ladies' vests, not to mention bowties and cummerbunds--oh yes, and also the hand towels that were for sale during Intermission. She's a DYNAMO and we're richly rewarded by her presence in our group. Finally I need to thank the one person who helps keep me sane--my husband Graham who has been by my side for 37 yrs. --listening, encouraging and ignoring when necessary. We met in a choir rehearsal and have been in one choir or another for our entire marriage. He was THE one back then and he continues to still be my one & only. Thanks Graham for letting me be me.
Eleanor
