A 2-part 'quaranzine' workshop with poet Rachel McCrum and artist Kimberley Glickman, exploring how to capture the story of a day in these strange times on paper, and turn it into a book from a single sheet of paper. Target Age Group: 8 and up Materials: Pens, pencils, paper, scissors, ruler, Bobby pins or paper clips, needle and thread Dates: Part 1: April 21 @ 2 pm Part 2: April 28 @ 2 pm Registration: https://bit.ly/WorkshopQuaranzine Spoken Word Designed and facilitated by Jason Selman and Deanna Smith This powerhouse Spoken Word duo will guide participants through the process of writing and performing spoken word poetry. Given writing prompts (visuals, music, physical actions, objects, literature), participants learn how to express themselves by articulating how they feel about issues that affect them: physical distancing, isolation, identity, culture, social media, etc. By providing examples, participants are coached through the process which culminates in a spoken word performance for their household that could also be filmed and shared online. Writing a Protest Song Designed and facilitated by Rob LutesAward winning songwriter and performer Rob Lutes will guide participants throughthe process of writing a Protest Song. He will use the Zoom conferencing platformto initially connect with participants, introduce the workshop, go over the steps andlead a short writing activity. Over the days that follow, participants will keep writingand editing their work and Rob will provide feedback by email. The result is a collection of gratitudes that can beorganized in a colourful visual art piece or recorded in audio or video format andpieced together by the ELAN ArtEd team. Participants can contribute musicallyas well by playing along to a sample.
