We have a diverse selection of books for students to chose from.
The books are organized by topic and authors.
We modify many of our books to allow students to use their knowledge of
Mayer Johnson symbols.

Author Studies!
Our students have little or no sight word recognition it
is vital that literacy units include lots of pictures and
easy to understand story lines.
Characters and situations should be familiar to start,
especially if comprehension questions will be asked.
By the end of the unit students are expected to know
the author, illustrator, and main characters!
With hands on projects and multiple read alouds our
author studies have been very successful!

Then we decorated and ate cupcakes!
Who knew reading could be so delicious?!
