We have tried making this issue more visual and if it proves popular we may

continue down this route. El Estilo is in the middle of a metamorphosis. It’s begining to branch out into new and exciting directions.

We are starting an online fashion store soon, hopefully this month. So if you are a designer and would like to sell your items on El Estilo, just get in touch. We’ll reveal all in the next issue. Until then.

For many, New Year’s Eve is all about getting that kiss at midnight. But even if that

isn’t your goal you still want to look amazing and grab attention where you can, so finding the perfect outfit for the night is critical.

Dressing for your figure is also a critical issue when buying an outfit, remember that what may look great on one person may look very different on another. A full-figured women needs to remember that an A-line stye dress lengthens the whole body without drawing attention to the waistline. Another style is the Empire, the empire style is narrowest just below the bust, which conceals your waist and hips giving the most flattering of shapes. Off the shoulder dresses draw attention upward, emphasizing the shoulders and bust area but avoid pleats or gathered fabric around the waist. Also it is important to remember that V-necks and scoop necks always flatter curvier figures. Black is an amazing colour for slimming but dare to bare and get some colour into the holiday season.

As stated earlier, the A-line style dress lengthens the body and this is also very flattering for the more petite figured women. A strapless dress emphasizes the neck and bustline

giving a flattering figure, showing just enough skin. Curve hugging dresses are perfect, low V necklines, showing a classy amount of skin, can even give the perception of looking slightly taller. Although ladies remember that petite figures should steer clear of full skirts and floor length skirts, these may make your body look as if it is not in proportion and that is the last thing that is wanted on the special night.

It is easy to overdo trends during the holiday season, but try to keep your outfit simple and stick to one key statement piece. Either a pair of shoes, a bag or the dress but not all three at once.

Look for something that’s a bit festive such as a black dress with a gold or silver accent or a gem-colored dress that would go perfectly with a bag you already own or a plain black dress with a pair of really nice gold heels, remembering your statement pieces. It is about simplicity but looking amazing!

Always put your own personal stamp on your outfit, if you are shopping local remember that other guests are likely to be shopping at the same store as you and may attend with the same garment. By slightly changing a garment with key accesory such as a belt or shrug can dramaticly change an outfit. For the men - Finding the perfect gift for your Fashionista girlfriend.

After my last article i have had letters in from men aswell as women, although this month i believe that the mens write ins are the ones of most importance as most are regarding what fashions to buy their wives and girlfriends this Christmas time,

the truth is when it comes to buying high-end trends the secret is to go for clothing and accesories that will last far beyond the fashionable holiday season.

For all the men trying to buy for their fashionista , take heed of the current trend towards timeless, investments pieces rather than one-season wonders. From heritage handbags to classic trenchcoats to cozy cashmere, these signature pieces will never go out of fashion. There has also been a shift away from bold statement pieces with show-off designer labels. Inconspicuous logos and updated traditional styles (modern vintage) win over bling. When it comes to women’s fashion, choose gifts that are understated this Christmas. Emphasis is on quality and craftsmanship. For a footwear present that is always in fashion then consider a pair of oh-so-comfortable UGG boots. Alternativly you can go for a sweater, a scarf or a pair of tights as cashmere is always a winner, cashmere for Christmas, it even has a ring to it. There are multiple uses for a cashmere pashmina-style shawl, whilst cashmere tights add a unique touch of luxury for legs. Heritage handbags can be a fantastic investment and make perfect Christmas presents. Vintage classics like a Channel handbag will prove lust-worthy items for decades to come, whilst classic pieces like a traditional Burberry trenchcoat, a Hermès scarf or a Louis Vuitton purse will last forever. Louis Vuitton are already having to close Paris stores an hour early in an attempt to ration its handbags in time for Christmas.

Chloe Flower

Chloe Flower is a classically trained pianist based in New York City. After studying with

Herbert Stessin from The Juilliard School and Zenon Fishbein from the Manhattan School of Music, she traveled to London where she was a student at The Royal Academy of Music. In 2007, she moved back to New York to pursue a career in piano performance. Her debut album, currently being recorded in Avatar Studios and MinMax Studios, will feature her own arrangements,

international beats, and the spoken word of Deepak Chopra. Chloe is donating 100% of her album proceeds to The Somaly Mam Foundation, an organization that has been her musical inspirtation for years. We’ve been looking forward to this shoot for a long time. So much passion,

talent and energy in one of London’s most famous venues is exciting!

On October 21st 2009, London saw the long awaited return of London’s most prolific luxury members club. Moving away from Soho and embracing the elegance of Fitzrovia, Chinawhite returned to great acclaim. Long considered a pioneer in its field, Chinawhite combines its formidable heritage with a brand new distinct, progressive and modern approach.

Inspired by London’s earliest clubs dating back to the 1920’s that entertained ‘outsiders and misfits’ Chinawhite is a melting pot of creatives and independent thinkers. The club is newly located in a grade II listed building on Winsley Street, Fitzrovia, an area which in it’s day was regarded as the centre of artistic importance and home to literary royalty such as George Bernard Shaw, who frequented the infamous Fitzroy Tavern. The UFO Club was home to Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix played at Speakeasy and Bob Dylan debuted at the King and Queen pub, all of which creates the fabric of the area’s past. Likewise, the new Chinawhite guest is not defined by wealth but by a desire to exist outside of the ordinary and guests come to the club to meet other like-minded people.

This shoot is probably the most ambitious one we’ve done so far. We had 4 models, Alice Christian, Sunny Plaisuwan Si, Krystal Carella

and Farah Haraf wearing Fabryan outfits by Samantha-Jane. We also had 4 photographers, Johnathan Dawes, Xiarm Evia, Joe Paul and Marc Wainwright. Our stylist backstage was Derek Leung and the 5 make-up artists and hair stylists were Ayesha Mubarak, Tiffany Cartwright, Kelly Mendiola, Nicola Pantazis and Hannah Khan.

Samantha-Jane is probably one of the most talented, dedicated and reliable fashion designers El Estilo

has ever come across. She seems to possess all the qualities you’d expect from a successful entrepeneaur and more. The fashion design industry is very competative (especially for new start-ups) but we believe Samantha has what it takes. So much so in fact that we have invited her to sell on our future online fashion store.

Many thanks to the management of Chinawhite for letting us use the venue and also to everyone who was able to help out on the day.

“With its lavish Garden Party theme, Piaget’s backstage VIP lounge became the celebrity hot spot of the afternoon”

For the fourth consecutive year, Piaget teamed up with Film Independent to pay tribute

to those individuals responsible for making some of today’s most important films. The Swiss jeweler and watchmaker also helped many of the afternoon’s honorees shine a little brighter by dressing them in its latest creations.

Best Actress nominee, Annette Bening, looked every bit the leading lady in Piaget’s rose motif gold and diamond earrings, while Darren Aronofsky was a winner for Best Director in Piaget’s Altiplano Skeleton watch. Also wearing Piaget on the red carpet were Best Supporting Actress nominee, Ashley Bell, Best Actress nominee, Greta Gerwig, Producer nominee, Gary Gilbert, Best Supporting Actor nominee, John Ortiz and presenters Jamie Fox, Zoe Saldana, Terrence Howard, Kerry Washington and Sandra Oh. Joel McHale, the show’s host, wore the Piaget Polo FortyFive chronograph.
