LOUISBURGH, CO. MAYO. 4th – 7th May 2018 Geraldine McNamara: A highly acclaimed flute player from County Clare who is no stranger to the area having resided and taught in Mayo for many years. Geraldine is an exceptional music teacher and we are delighted to welcome her back to Mayo for this year’s Féile. Brian O’Loughlin: From a musical family in Corofin, Co. Clare, Brian started playing the flute at a young age and has had numerous All-Ireland successes. In 2015, Brian released his first commercial recording and he is a member of the 3 in row All-Ireland winning Shandrum Céilí Band. Cian Kearins: Another member of the Kearins family from Ballymote Co. Sligo. Cian is highly versatile and becomes the first person to teach three different workshops at Féile Chois Cuain - having previously taught flute and ballads. Teresa Tierney: From Loughrea, Co. Galway Teresa is an accomplished flute and whistle player who has graced many of the finest sessions around the country. Mairead Hurley: A member of the highly acclaimed Hurley family from Ballymote, Mairead has toured worldwide. Having won the All Ireland title in 2006, Mairead spent time teaching music in Australia and has recently recorded an album with John Blake and Nathan Gourley. Aileen Burke: A fine young concertina player from North Mayo currently studying on the BA Irish Music and Dance course at the University of Limerick. George McAdam: An outstanding banjo player originally from Ballybay, Co. Monaghan. Now based in Dublin, George is highly sought aſter as a tutor, adjudicator and performer across Ireland and abroad. He is also a member of the Blackwater Céilí band. Shane McGowan: Guitar may be relatively new to traditional music but Shane is part of a family steeped in traditional music and has the ability to produce the ideal backdrop to any given melody and is very much in demand for his accompaniment skills. Ella Marie O’Dwyer: A unique voice and a captivating style has helped Ella Marie to become one of the most recognised traditional singers of her generation. She has won many All Ireland titles and has released a number of commercial recordings and a book with a collection of songs. Máirín Uí Chéide: Is as an Máimín, Leitir Móir i nGaeltacht na Gaillimhe do Mháirín ach tá cónaí uirthi le fada an lá i mBostún. ug sí Corn Uí Riada léi i 1986 agus tá a cáil goite i bhfad is i ngearr ar fud féilte ceoil Mheiriceá de bharr a cuid amhránaíochta. Bean atá an-bhródúil as a cuid oidhreachta, cuirfear fáilte chroíúil roimpi i gCluain Cearbán. Pádraig and Róisín McEneany: is Termonfeckin couple have danced worldwide. e duo are in great demand for set dance classes, workshops and performances. Rónán Ó Riagáin: Rónán completed his Masters in Traditional Music Performance in University Limerick in 2005 and won the All- Ireland Sean-nós Dance Competition in Cavan in 2010. Celebration of traditional Irish music and songDeireadh Seachtaine Amhránaiochta, Ceoil agus Damhsa

Louisburgh is a small town on the western seaboard, in an area of great natural beauty. The area has a rich heritage in the traditional arts dating back through the ages with poets and musicians that feature in writings from the 1800’s and beyond. In the recent past and particularly since the inception of the annual Féile Chois Cuain, the traditional arts scene in Louisburgh has been particularly vibrant, with a host of home grown performers and an avid audience for the many fine performers who regularly visit.

Now in its 24th year Féile Chois Cuain has gone from strength to strength and it is firmly established as one of Ireland’s premier traditional festivals with many of Ireland’s most revered performers returning to the festival year after year. Wonderful concerts, master classes by true masters, lively sessions and a legendary warm welcome awaits all visitors to Féile Chois Cuain.

Féile dhátheangach iontach is í an Fhéile, atá ag tarraingt scoth an gceoltóirí agus na n-amhránaithe ó chuile chearn den tíre chuici ar feadh scór blianta anois. A buíochas leis na haíonna agus leis na cuairteoirí sin, tá cáil i bhfad is i gcéin ar Fhéile Chois Cuain i measc lucht leanúna na n-ealaíon traidisiúnta. Tá ríméad orainn go mbeidh an fhéile faoi lán seoil arís i mbliana agus go mbeidh baile beag Chluain Cearbán lán de cheol, de chraic agus de chuideachta le linnan deireadh seachtaine ar fad.

Dé Domhnaigh 6ú Bealtaine Sunday 6th May 4.00pm Ceol Shlí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin / Music of the Wild Atlantic Waye The “Wild Atlantic Way” as a brand may be new - but this rugged coastline has been home to a wonderful heritage of traditional music, song and dance for centuries. In this concert we showcase a variety of styles along the West coast from Donegal to Cork. Amongst those taking part will be; Cian & Caoimhe Kearins, Mairead Hurley, Joe Carey, Máirín Uí Chéide, Ronan O’Regan, Christy Barry Clíona Halley and Sean Garvey. Teagascóirí / TutorsJohn Nolan: Born and raised in the Bronx, John began to play at the age of 12 and in 1982 he became the first American-born musician to win the Senior Button Accordion Championship at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. John is an experienced teacher and is also an expert in the tuning and repair of instruments.

Fergus Bogue: A Cavan native and is one of Ireland’s most popular accordion players. A very talented musician Fergus has featured in several Comhaltas tours and is much in demand for events all over the country.

Nathan Gourley: Nathan hails from Minnesota and started playing music at the age of five soaking up traditional tunes and style from County Offaly accordion legend Paddy O’Brien. In 2013, he moved to Boston and was the winner of the of Boston’s Fiddler of Dooney competition in that year. Nathan has a very busy touring schedule and has many commercial recordings to his credit.

Caoimhe Kearins: From Ballymote in County Sligo, Caoimhe is part of the Collis musical dynasty and a fine exponent of a re-emerging Sligo style of Traditional Fiddle playing. Caoimhe was part of the All Ireland winning trio at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 and is the current champion of the Fiddler of Dooney competition.
