Eiland Center Library In the Midst of Winter by Isabel Allende begins with a minor traffic accident—which becomes the catalyst for an unexpected and moving love story between two people deep into the winter of their lives.

The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld is a haunting and suspenseful novel about a private investigator who must use her unique insights to find a missing girl. The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry is a historical novel, set in late nineteenth-century England, about an intellectually minded young widow, a pious vicar, and a rumored mythical serpent. The novel success-fully combines a ghost story, natural history lesson and some romance while introducing you to the most delightful heroine since Elizabeth Bennet in Pride

and Prejudice.

High Dive by Jonathan Lee weaves together fact and fiction, comedy and tragedy, as the story switches among the perspectives of some unforgettable characters. In September 1984, a bomb was planted at the Grand Hotel in the seaside town of Brighton, England, and set to explode in twenty-four days when the British prime minister and her entire cabi-net would be staying there.

The Enchantress of Numbers: A Novel of Ada Lovelace by Jennifer Chiaverini unveils an unherald-ed pioneer in mathematics and computing. This is the story of the world’s first computer programmer, Ada Byron King, Countess of Lovelace—a woman whose exceptional contributions to science and technology have gone unsung for too long.
