It is a non-profit organization of volunteers that work with leaders in business and higher education students to make a difference in their communities. CTC students have 7 community outreach programs ongoing. They have 350 partner companies they work with. Operation Hope collects food for the local food banks from Harker Heights to Lampasas. Operation Upgrade teaches resume writing, interview skills, filling out applications etc to help people get jobs. There is a Lending Closet to help with proper dress for the interviews. ENACTUS members work with military spouses on how to start home based businesses and how to get grants for getting started. Operation Set Up helps small struggling businesses in the community to find ways to better manage their business for their future success. For more information and to participate in the projects come to the meetings every Friday at 10:30 AM in the planetarium, room 101. FYI: Water Education "Be assured that the City of Harker Heights is prepared and is able to provide its citizens with a high quality of potable water while protecting health and welfare for many years to come". Objectives for improvement: a) To have a system that can be operated continually at its peak capacity during high use periods without affecting customer service. b) Identify maximum demand rates required to provide adequate fire protection and replace water lines insufficient to handle required flow, c) Identify and replace all lines that are too small and that are of substandard material, d) Expand the water system as required by the development of the City, e) Replace water lines that are obsolete, not embedded properly, are deteriorated, do not function properly, and cannot be fully utilized, f) Reduce the amount of lost water, g) Provide adequate storage to provide continuous operation 24 hours a day, and (h) Computer modeling of the distribution system for planning future improvement projects".
