Authorized Institution: Gas Distribution Company responsible for distribution of gas in the related province or region Authorized Installer: Individual who is experienced on this subject, responsible for the installation and starting up of the appliance and aware of all the required measures and authorized by official authorities in accordance with the legislation. V: Voltage, AC: Alternating Current, DC: Direct Current, VA: Volt‐Ampere (Power in AC Coils), W: Watt (power in DC coils) 3. Operation Principle, Introductory and Basic Information: ESKA brand EGV model gas valves are normally open, manual wind‐up gas solenoid valves that shut when electric energy is received. Negativities such as wearing, noise, buzzing etc are not observed in the appliance as there is no electric consumption during normal operation and energy saving is ensured. It cuts the gas flow in the line by receiving signal from gas alarm device or any device that generates signal, and remains closed until it is manually wind up again. It is a normally open, manual wind‐up safety valve having actuating mechanism and which is used at outdoors. The application that it is most frequently used is its use along with the gas alarm device. In this utilization type, it automatically cuts the gas input to the system by receiving signal from the alarm device in case of a gas leakage, and gas flow is ensured by its manual wind‐up after danger. In our gas valves, when the product is assembled through pulling the winding‐up handle upwards, the orifice surface opens and the gas in pipeline starts to pass towards the user side. When the coil of the appliance receives an electrical signal, the valve activates its shaft thanks to its electromagnetic field system and gas‐cutting appliance and covers the orifice surface imperviously by the gasket at the end of its shaft. Gas flow has been closed whether the signal continues to reach the valve or not, and the winding‐up handle will then remain closed until it is manually assembled again. For the operation of gas valves, no pressure difference is required between the inlet and outlet of line and they operate with direct operation principle. After the appliance cuts the gas, re‐supply of gas to installation is being possible only after the manual winding‐up (reset) operation. Manual winding‐up operation following the shut off shall only be performed by the authorized gas distribution company (EGO; IGDAS, IZGAZ etc). Valve shaft and is set to open position during normal operation. When a voltage of 12VDC and 230 VAC is applied to the appliance, it shuts down automatically in a period less than 1 second. There is no sharp corner that may cause injury on valves. Operation of moving parts on the valves is not being damaged by the other parts. Valves are resistant to mechanical, electrical and thermal stresses that occur under operating conditions. Products are able to function normally in case of drop on any wooden floor from a height of 1 meter. Valves do not allow internal and external leakage, and they are resistant to bending – torsion stresses. Solenoid valves can function at 110% and 85% of supply voltage. Valves conform the conditions and performances of high voltage, fault current, grounding, insulation resistance, cold, dry hot, damp heat, glow wire and protection degree of casing. The Appliance shall be kept away from rain and water. 4. Dimensioning and Product Tree: Dimensions are given in mm. 5. 6. Areas of UseThe product is used on mains and industrial areas in order to automatically cut the lines of appliances that ignite combustible and inflammable gases such as natural gas and LPG. In general, the signal is being provided to valve through gas alarm devices or similar safety equipments, and in addition it can be used for various aims in industrial normal valve usage areas. In its use along with gas alarm device, it cuts the gas penetrating into household by receiving signal from the alarm device that detects gas leakage in case of any danger regarding gas and prevents many negative conditions. In this respect it is a safety member.

7. Assembly:The following issues, installation and assembly shall only be performed by authorized and specialist technicians accredited by gas accreditation institutions and by authorized companies – services – installers, and the end user shall not perform these operations. In case of installation in an inappropriate manner, it may not operate as anticipated or gas interruption out of guarantee can occur. Do not forget to compare the voltage of valve coil and the voltage that will reach the valve prior to assembly. Be sure that 230 VAC is not being supplied to 12 VDC coil. Otherwise valve will not operate, as the coil will break down. In some cases, the voltage value shall always be controlled while assembling the coil on the valve. Prior to assembly it shall be controlled that the tubes are cleaned and aligned, that there is no axis eccentricity in the line where the appliance will be connected, that there is no damage on the product, that there is no energy on valve coil and all the required measures are taken on this issue, that the product to be assembled is in conformity with the system to be used, that the line pressure does not exceed the maximum pressure level indicated on the product label, that the size of the product conforms to the line, that the place of assembly is at a distance which will not be affected by sparks and electric currents possible to arise from combustible materials and appliances. It shall be made sure prior to assembly that gas supply is shut off, that there is no compressed gas in line where the appliance will be installed, that such a probability is prevented during assembly, that all the valves used before the appliance and providing gas flow to appliance are closed.Prior to assembly clean the entire pipeline ‐to which the appliance will be in contact‐ from foreign particulates such as welding flux, dirt, chip etc. Make sure that there is no remaining particle at any point in the line. Labels and other information on the product and box shall be controlled and it shall be complied with this information prior to the use of our products. We suggest you to place a filter at the entrance of all the installations. While cleaning the installation with compressed air do not connect the gas valve to line. Remove it if it is connected.

11. Maintenance, Repair and Periodic Inspection:

The appliance does not require any maintenance. There is no component on the appliance that needs to be removed in order to be cleaned under normal conditions. No repair shall be performed by the user. It has to be performed by the authorized services. User or unauthorized individuals shall not interfere to the appliance and line in case of any failure.Make sure that there is no compressed gas in the line prior to repair or disassembly of the appliance from the line, that the electric energy is cut, that this is set as it will be provided until the completion of operation and that the valves being used before the appliance which provide gas flow are closed. Use the convenient sealing components to ensure sealing prior to assembly of device on the line following repair. Always check the sealing of the appliance after repair and when required use foam to perform this control. Parts of the valves ‐that may be required to be removed for repair‐ have been formed as to be disassembled and assembled by normal hand tools and as not to be assembled in an incorrect manner. Lock bolts allowed to be disassembled for repair operations have metrical thread.

What to Do In Case Of Smelling Gas Odor: If you smell gas odor in the line where the appliance is installed or if the gas alarm appliances at the area of the appliance provide signal and alarm, be calm and perform the following operations. * Shut off the gas source from the main gas control – valve and/or from storage tank (LPG). Close gas valves and gas tools starting from the closest one. * Open the doors and windows in order increase ventilation. * Do not use lighter or matches, put out your cigarette. Put out all the open fires, smoky materials, sources that may cause spark and fire, do not make them operable. * Do not touch to any electrical hardware, do not open or close them, do not interfere to their plugs (fuses, doorbell, electric switches etc). Leave the open and closed ones in their current position. * Do not use mobile phone and radio‐set against the risk of spark.* Extinguish existing fire. Extinguish all fire including all the smoky materials. * Call gas distribution company from a suitable location. After the performance of aforementioned operations, you can make authorized installers re‐open the valves appliances by consulting the relevant posts (gas distribution company – installer etc) if the reason of gas leakage has been determined and if it has been resolved. Prior to provision of gas, you must DEFINITELY inform all the occupants or have them informed regarding that the gas is re‐opened / will be opened.

As the disassembly of gas valve from the installation may be required for its maintenance and repair, use bush, manometer or globe valve at the inlet and outlet of gas valve.

The product shall not be exposed to excessive load and impact during assembly. Connect it without mechanical stress. In case of excess loads to be applied on the body, it shall not be ignored that there is the possibility to cause crack on the body. Therefore perform the assembly with wrench. Do not apply hand power from the cover or body during assembly; perform the assembly with a convenient wrench. Required space as per the external sizes of the appliance shall be left around the appliance and in between the appliance and wall in order to be able to test the appliance, re‐install it and access to its components. Gas valve is normally assembled before the user. The appliance shall be connected to line in the direction of the arrow. It shall be assembled as the arrow on the body indicates the user, thus the flow will be from the network towards the user. Connect the product to the male thread in the line by tightening with the wrench and perform leakage control. Gas valve can be assembled at any position as per the form of assembly, but it shall be preferred to assemble the gas valve cover and its spring in a manner which is vertical and at a position that faces upwards. (It is not suggested to assemble the gas valve cover at a position that faces downwards.) Gas valve shall be assembled to horizontal pipes. Prefer assembly to vertical pipes when it is necessary.Possible penetration of gasket, chip and metal pieces into the product shall be prevented during installation. Use appropriate sealing components during assembly and make sure of its imperviousness. While connecting the appliance to line, its inlet and outlet shall be connected to pipeline by nipple or movable bushes. Always control the sealing of the system after installation, and when required use foam to perform this control. After completion of assembly, check whether the gas valve is assembled properly. While evaluating the efficiency of the product's operation, it shall be made sure that it is connected to line as stable and as not to cause leakage. Earthing connection on the coil shall be performed. Make sure that the phase, neutral and earth connections of the coil are made properly. The coil shall not be energized prior to its installation on the spindle at valve and prior to the installation of fixing nut on it. If there is condensation of moisture and water in the environment, the required electrical measures shall be taken. Consider not to cause short circuit by passing the connection cables and wires properly from braces. If possible each valve shall be taken under control by fuse against short circuit and sudden voltage difference. Each appliance shall be added to fuse one by one.

Fuse voltage shall be the same as solenoid voltage.

If inflammation exists in the surrounding of gas, trying to extinguish fire without cutting the gas is useless and very dangerous.

12. Considerations and Warnings:

The use of our product is suggested on all gas lines in respect of safety. The appliance shall be installed by authorized installer. This appliance shall be installed by authorized installer in accordance with the installation instructions of the manufacturer. In case of installation in an inappropriate manner, it may not operate as anticipated or unguaranteed gas interruption may occur. After the appliance cuts the gas supply, it shall be adjusted and activated only after the authorized individual determines that there is no gas leakage. It shall not be approached to gas valve with electrical and combustible materials while it is in line. Operation limits specified in the technical specifications part shall not be exceeded. The appliance shall not be opened and repaired by unauthorized individuals. The appliance shall not be tampered, its covers shall not be opened, wire, water etc. materials shall not be inserted into the holes of the appliance. Assembly, adjustment amendment, usage and maintenance operations performed against the instructions may cause injuries and material damages. So read this guide carefully prior to using the appliance. This appliance shall be assembled according to applying technical regulations. The appliance shall be kept away from rain and water. Gas alarm device does not operate in case of electric failure. In all assembly, repair and other operations, the personnel performing the operations shall take the required electrical measures. The surface of solenoid valve's coil may become warm in an operating system. Prevent the coil connection cables and wires to twist and cause short circuit. It is suggested to have the required devices installed on the system in order to prevent the coils from being affected by excessive voltage fluctuations. When the combustible materials or dangerous devices are close to the coil especially in case of critical installation conditions (unprotected areas, insufficient ventilation, insufficient service and repair) or during normal operation, the convenience of distance in between the valves and these appliances shall be assessed prior to installation and during operation in order to be protected from effects of electric arc or spark. Because in such conditions potential triggers may be in subject and a dangerous condition may arise. Moreover, preventive measures shall be taken in any case in order to avoid the probability of composition of an explosive area source by the coil. Make sure that the required magnetic material is installed on the internal hole of coil prior to operation, otherwise it breaks down.

Examples of assembly and product sizes have been specified below.

8. Installation of the Appliance:

Our products are being released from our factory as the winding‐up handle being in closed position in accordance with the request of the user. Thus at the line of the customer the installation of our product shall be performed as described below. Control that no energy is being transferred to valve from the electric supply connected gas valve. Electric connection to valve may have been made; the significant point is to control that no electric signal is being transferred to valve through this connection ‐during assembly‐ that will activate the valve. Manually and slowly pull out the winding‐up handle towards yourself, wait for 3 seconds in this condition and control that the handle does not return to its first position when you release it and that it remain upwards. In this case the winding up operation will be realized.

NOTE: If you have problem in pulling the winding‐up handle, try again by closing the globe valve in front of the gas valve, and in case winding‐up is not realized in the consecutive trials contact with our factory.

Always control the gas sealing of the system after installation, and when required use foam to perform this control.

13. User Errors, Failure Causes and Results

When encountered with failures similar to exemplified below, end user shall not interfere and authorized installer or gas distribution companies shall be informed. If the product is not being wound‐up during assembly even if its winding‐up handle is pulled, try winding‐up while there is no electric connection by removing the electric connection of the valve (take the required measure against electric shock during this operation), and after pulling the winding‐up handle upwards wait for 3 seconds without releasing it, if it winding‐up cannot be performed even in this case then the product is broke, install the new appliance on line and contact with our factory. If the product is closed for any reason after assembly while there is gas on line despite not having received a signal or if the winding‐up handle is closed, promptly inform the authorized gas distribution institution. If the flow rate is insufficient or if the appliance leaks, control that whether you have made the correct selection that you have connected the appliance on line in the direction of arrow, that the assembly has been made properly, that there is no foreign particle on the line. If problems persist even in this case, inform the gas distribution company regarding the leakage problem. High amount of dust coming from the line may block the gas valve in time, thus an increase in the flow rate of gas in the line occurs in the future.

If you have any hesitation that there is gas leakage in the line where the gas valve is installed, contact the authorized company which has assembled the product to your line or to us as soon as possible.

After the appliance performs closure following receiving electrical signal due to normal operation and moves the yellow shaft downwards, if a pressure is being read on the manometer at the outlet of appliance or the pressure increases continuously, then there is leakage on the product, inform the authorized gas distribution institution. If the product does not operate, first control the cable connections, voltage and pressure on the line. Control that whether the electric signal provides signal to valve, if the connections have been made correct, energy is being provided to coil normally, correct voltage has been provided to coil and the pressure of line is not over the limits provided by the manufacturer for that coil, then the product or coil is broke. If the product does not operate after this control, cut the power connection and contact with our company. Check that the voltage transmitted to valve is the same with the voltage coil. If you supply 220VAC for 12 VDC coil, then the coil breaks down and valve cannot function.

9. Re‐Installation of the Appliance:In case the appliance cuts gas due to an electrical signal it receives or due to an unexpected condition, promptly inform the authorized gas distribution institution. In such a case, it shall be verified that no gas leakage exists by the individuals assigned by the authorized gas distribution institution. The only authorized bodies for the on‐site winding‐up of the appliance are authorized gas distribution institutions. Do not interfere to the appliance until the attendance of authorized employees of gas distribution companies. In order to re‐install the appliance: 1. Provide that the appliances ‐within the household‐ connected to natural gas are closed.2. Close the valve at the entrance of household.3. Take care that there is no gas leakage on pipe installations. 4. Install the appliance in accordance with the sequence described in the above installation operation. 5. Inform the occupants regarding that the gas flow is re‐ensured and that they can open and use the appliances.

10. Selection:The selection of gas valve is important. The inlet pressure on the line, required outlet pressure and required flow rate values shall be known as they will be used during selection. During the selection of product, the model that can meet the required flow rate is selected from the following table. In technical calculations, it is suggested to avoid from outlet velocity over 30 m/s. For a better flow select the upper diameter at high outlet velocities. During the selection of gas valves, it shall be selected considering a deviation of 10%. The valve with the smallest nominal diameter that is able to provide the required flow rate at relevant pressure losses shall be selected during the selection of gas valves. Capacity and pressure loss table of gas valve has been provided below. This table is used for the selection of product.

The appliance can break down if a higher pressure is provided to gas valve than the pressure specified in the technical specifications part above.

If there is a burn on the external surface of coil or if outwards bending have occurred on the external plastic of coil, then the coil is broke, non‐functioning and it shall be replaced.

If outwards swelling have occurred on the surface of hole at the internal part of coil and if a part cannot be assembled on the hole due to that, then it means that coil is energized prior to assembly of the part required for its movement and so the coil is broke, non‐functioning and it shall be replaced. If you are sure that the energy on line is being transmitted to coil and if the coil is not being energized and is not functioning despite providing energy, then short circuit may have been occurred or it may have been affected by excessive voltage and so the coil is broke, non‐functioning and it shall be replaced.

If the coil is tried to be used at a pressure over the operation pressures provided by the manufacturer for that coil, then it does not function and the system pressure shall be reduced to specified pressures for it to operate.

14. Carrying and transportation:

All our appliances have been placed in single and multiple special cardboard boxes in order to prevent damages due to environmental conditions, carrying and transportation. Products shall not be thrown during carrying and transportation, weights that may cause harm shall not be placed on them, they shall not be shaken by impact and left in wet locations.

15. Storage Conditions

For maximum protection, valves shall be stored in an area that is clean, dry, non‐dusty, shaded and well ventilated and if possible at room temperature until final assembly.

Valves shall be prevented against shock, impact, vibration etc. forces.

Valves shall be stored as being prevented against air conditions and contamination such as dirt, mud etc. If they are required to be kept in stock for a while, they shall be stored without opening their original packs. If it is required to store them by removing them out of their packs, inlet and outlet ports of valves shall be closed by a convenient member.

Flow Rate Conversion: The above flow rate values and flow rate capacity table have been prepared for natural gas. In case of the use of gas valve for a gas other than natural gas, the flow rate of the other gas is determined as per the following flow rate conversion formula.

Q1: Q2xKQ1: Flow Rate of Gas Whose Flow Rate is wanted to be Determined (m3/h)Q2: Flow Rate of Natural Gas selected from the Capacity Table (m3/h)K: Flow rate conversion factor
