We thank all of our parent supporters and our staff who attended the District Athletics Carnival on Friday. It was a beautiful day and the children did so well. There were a number of very special achievements on the day, with Andrea awarded 11 years Girls Champion and our senior boys and girls relay teams gaining 1st place. They have been working so hard in the lead up, training during their lunches with Ms Quinn – well deserved. We wish you well at the Western regional carnival on Friday 14 September. We congratulate many of our students who, whilst not gaining a place competed proudly, and achieved personal bests on the day. Thank you for representing our school. We have a number of key events occurring this term, with NAIDOC Day (14 September) and Pedal Push (28 September). Parents are advised that on these days we will not be holding our usual Assembly Awards because of the organisation of these events. The success of our Pedal Push depends on the many parent volunteers we need on the day to keep the children safe. Shortly, a note will go home asking for your assistance. As part of our risk management we do need for you to indicate your availability early to assist with the planning of the event. Save the Date! Father’s Day Barbeque Breakfast We have a fun morning planned for Friday 31 August for students and someone special such as Dad, Grandpa or Uncle. The morning will run from 8:00—9:30am. 2019 Enrolments This term we commence the organisation for next year. I am asking that if you have not already done so and intend to enrol a student for 2019, please do so as soon as possible. If you know of someone who is not part of our school community, but intends to enrol a child, ask them to do so as well. Photographing or Filming Protocols We understand how important it is to have memories of children involved in their growing years. We understand that many of those memories involve events or receiving awards at school. As such the school has developed a set of protocols which we ask you to follow for the benefit of everyone. These protocols are outlined below. We ask that you read and adhere to them. Film and photograph opportunities will usually occur at major events such as carnivals, parades, assemblies, special days. If you wish to film or photograph at any other time you must consult with the class of the supervising teacher beforehand. Filming or photographing can only occur with the following understanding: • The focus of the filming or photographing must be your own child. • Any film or photograph taken must only be for personal use. • Photos or films that have any other children, other than your own, must not be placed on social media.

Baby news

Wonderful news. We congratulate Keira and Jamie on the birth of their new baby boy, Braxton. Keira had

been working in our School Office. We also welcome Lisa, who has joined the Office team for the rest of the

year. Next week Mrs Garner will take over K-2GH full time as Mrs Hillyar take maternity leave.

Attendance Update Term 3 Our unexplained absence rate is currently sitting at 64%. This is very high as the average should be around 35%. Parent Contact Procedure Teachers must receive an explanation for a student’s absence within 7 days from the first day of any absence through means of telephone call, written note, text message or email. The 7day timeframe for explaining absences is a requirement of the Education Act of 1990. At Eglinton Public School: 1. Each class teacher documents individual student attendance daily through Sentral and submits by 10am. 2. All students arriving to school after 9:20am and leaving school before 3:25pm must be signed in and out

of the school through the front office. 3. If no explanation for a student’s absence has been received after 2 days the class teacher will: - Send home with the student the proforma for Unexplained Absence to the student’s parents. If not

returned within 5 days the absence is recorded as Unexplained.
