The Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge offers several miles of

trails to access the various habitats within the refuge. Wildlife include birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and fish. No dogs are allowed and jogging is not

permitted. The refuge is located off I-5, Exit 114. There is a daily fee of $3.00 per four adults.

The Special Olympics of Washing-ton held their Summer Games on May 30-31, and June 1. The JBLM Tigers participated in Aquatics and Track and Field.

The Aquatics events were held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. The aquatics team re-ceived 6 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals. The Track and Field events were held on Joint Base Lewis-Mc-Chord. The track and field team re-ceived 5 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals. All participants enjoyed their events and had a great time.

The 7th Annual Exceptional Family Member Program Camp,

“Superheroes of American Lake,” is August 8-10 at the Northwest Adventure Center and Shoreline Park.

EFMP Camp JBLM, established in 2008, was created to support Servicemembers and their Families with special needs. The camp provides a safe, friendly, welcoming and ADA-accessible environment that allows

the entire Family to enjoy a summer camp experience.

Families interested in over-night cabin stays will have an opportunity to submit their names thru July 10. The drawing will be on July

11. Those selected will be notified and have the option of accepting or declining cabin accommodations. All Families are welcome to participate in the “day camp” on Saturday, August 9, from approximately 0900 to

1700. Registration for the day camp will go through August 1. Activities include fishing, pontoon rides,

Health Care NeedsSeattle Children’s Hospital publishes a directory for summer camps in Washington State.

Their website is www.cshcn.org and includes a searchable database for the most current camp information.

Bingo, face painting, and arts and crafts. The USO’s Mobile Canteen will be on site from 1100-1400 offering no-cost hot dogs and snacks. Please join us.

Support Groups for You & Yours

PURPASA family support group open to all (parents, children, and helping professionals) for individuals with Autism. Participants meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at their summer location - the PAVE office, 6316 S. 12th St., Tacoma, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Bring your own beverage; snacks will be provided. TACIDTacoma Area Coalition of Individu-als with Disabilities promotes the independence of individuals with disabilities. It is located at 6315 South 19th Street, Tacoma. Call 253-565-9000 for further information. The website is www.tacid.org and has a program link to an extensive schedule of workshops and support groups for peer support, employ-ment, recovery and wellness, hous-ing, independent living, and veter-ans’ services.

If your Family member has a health condi-tion that necessitates a specialist or spe-cialty clinic, he or she MUST be enrolled in EFMP under medical, DD Form 2792. If your child has an IEP (Individualized Education Program) or 504 plan, he or she must be enrolled in EFMP under educa-tion, DD Form 2792-1. Enrollment forms for EFMP are renewed every three years or sooner, if there are significant changes.

Disenrollment is not automatic upon expi-ration; it is required for a change in marital status or a significant improvement that no longer warrants enrollment.

Army — Submit your completed enroll-ment forms to the EFMP office located in the Madigan Nursing Tower, on the first floor, left side, just past the chapel, room 1-28-17. For questions regarding enroll-ment or overseas screenings, please call 253-968-0254/1370/4355. This office is closed on Thursdays.

Air Force — Submit your completed enrollment forms to the SNC office 62nd Medical Clinic, first floor of Airman’s Clinic Bioenvironmental hallway, second/third office on left. For a PCS screening or for questions call SSGT Michelle Sutton at 253-982-3350. Lois Fisher is the Special Needs Coordinator at 253-982-5568. Open Monday, Tuesday, Friday 0800-1530; Wednesday 0800-1100. Closed 2nd Tues-day 1200 – 1530; Closed on Thursday. For Air Force Respite Care, contact the Ser-vicemember & Family Readiness Center at 253-982-2695.
