    How to Network

    Network every single day

    - Make it a habit by scheduling it- Connect with at least one person professionally every day

    - Email, LinkedIn, Ten Thousand Coffees, Phone Call, etc.

Introduce two people in your circle that dont know each other, but should

    - This can be done once in a while and creates goodwill

    - If both parties found value in meeting each other, they would return the favour Imagine you got laid off or fired today. Who are the 5-10 people that youd reach out to

    for advice/help?

    - Make sure to invest in those relationships regularly, not just when you have an urgent

    need

They say you are the sum total of the 5 people that you spend the most time with- Think back over the past 3 months, who are those people?

    - Are you happy with the way theyre influencing you?

    - If not, change the way youre spending your time

    - How you spend your time determines the quality of your life

How to Influence People to Like You

Tips from Robin Dreeke, former head of the FBIs Behavioural Analysis Program and has studied

interpersonal relations for over 27 years. Hes an expert on how to make people like you.

    1) The single most important thing is non-judgmental validation. Seek someone elses thoughts

    and opinions without judging them.

    2) Suspend your ego. Focus on them.

    3) Really listen, dont just wait to talk. Ask them questions;dont try to come up with stories to

    impress.

    4) Ask people about whats been challenging them.

    5) Establishing a time constraint early in the conversation can put strangers at ease.

    6) Smile, chin down, blade your body, palms up, open and upward non-verbals.

    7) If you think someone is trying to manipulate you, clarify goals. Dont be hostile or aggressive, but ask them to be straight about what they want.

    Effective Communication

4 Styles of How People Communicate

    1) The Executive Summary

    - Can be bossy and wants the facts

    - Best way of communicating with them is to get to the point

    - Use concrete terms rather than abstractions when possible for best results

    2) The Chatty Cathy

    - Loves talking to people and naturally sociable

    - Engage their small talk, but indicate a time limit and suggest allowing for another time to talk- Relate to stories and examples, smile, lean forward, use humour with sensitivity

    3) The My Door is Always Open Person

    - Appears calm and cool, presents themselves as a low-key, patient individual that welcomes change

    - To effectively reach them, consider all new ideas

    - The facts are not as important to them as the process you use in getting to the best decisions

    4) The Anal-yzer

    - Facts, figures, detail-oriented, meticulous

    - Without any of these, theyre paralyzed and cannot move forward with a decision

    - You will need to have charts, figures, graphs, statistics, any information that supports you

    - Prepare yourself for debates or questions

    Professional Conduct

Responsibility to your Firm, your Boss and yourself

Act in a way that will serve the public interest

Maintain the highest sense of integrity and professionalism

Remain objective and independent of any conflicts of interest

If you choose to have an online presence, make sure that it aligns with your

professional brand - if your boss or a potential employer were to have access

to your social media profiles, it should not leave them with a negative

    impression about you
