Effect of Shveta Palandu SwarasaBhavita Yavani Vati after
Virechana Karma on Oligozoospermia- A case study

Introduction Oligozoospermia: low sperm count- Sperm count <15
million/ml (according to WHO-2010).
Approximately 20% of cases of infertility are due entirelyto a male factor, with an additional 30% to 40% of casesinvolving both male and female factors. Therefore, amale factor is present in one half of infertile couples.
Today increased mental stress, tobacco –alcoholaddiction, pollution, faulty eating & clothing habit,change in culture etc. have endangered reproductivecapacity of men, leading to oligozoospermia (KsheenaShukra) ultimately to infertility.
Case report• A 39 year male patient known case of primary
infertility and having sperm count 5 milion million/mlcame to the O.P.D of Kayachikitsa, I.P.G.T.& R.A.hospital, Jamnagar
• According to patient history he was suffering frominfertility since 7 year and after doing semen analysis itwas found he was suffering from severe oligoospermia(sperm count 5 million/ml )
• He had approached for Allopathy treatment for 1 year but in vain .
• Family history : No any family history related infertility
• Occupational history : He is factory worker
• Addiction : Chewing tobacco
• Past history : N/H/o DM, HTN, IHD, Epilepsy, Tuberculosis, etc
N/H/o any surgical procedureN/H/O vericocele or hydrocele
Ashtavidh pariksha ( personal history )
• Nadi : 86/min• Mutra : 8-9/ 1 times D/N , whitish in colour • Mala : 1 time/Day irregular yellowish in colour• Jihva : Sama ( coated)• Akruti : madhyam• Koshtha : Krura• Respiration : 23 /min, • B.P. : 130/90 mmHg• Temperature : 98.7 F
• Prakriti of Patient : Vata -pitta
• Patient was again subjected to the investigations and the reportrevealed sperm count 5million/ml
• All other investigating for Haematological and biochemicalparameters were within normal limit
• USG Scrotum also showed no anatomical abnormalities
• Being found suitable for Shodhana, patient was subjected toVirechana Procedure followed by treatment with Shveta PalanduSwarasa Bhavita Yavani Vati
