• Argonne Partnering for advanced reactor designs
– The Argonne National Laboratory will work with three of
the world's leading nuclear products and services
companies on projects that could unlock the potential of
advanced nuclear reactor designs, helping create a new
generation of safer, more efficient reactors.
– The three projects partner Argonne with AREVA Federal
Services (Aiken, S.C.), GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy
(Wilmington, N.C.), and Westinghouse Electric Company
(Monroeville, Pa.) to address significant technical
challenges to the design, construction and operation of
next-generation reactors.

• DOE Awards Support Service Contract
– DOE announced the award of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite
Quantity (ID/IQ) contract to Trinity Engineering Associates of
Cincinnati, OH. Trinity Engineering Associates is a small-
disadvantaged business under the Small Business Administration’s
8(a) Program. The contract will have a maximum value of $4
million over four years. Firm-fixed-price and time-and-material task
orders will be issued from the basic contract.
• New guidance has been issued for applications to DOT for
IAEA Special Form Class 7 materials, per 49 CFR 173.476.

and is effective immediately.

– Vibrant has won a $1.26 million contract with the Air Force
Materiel Command to develop new modeling techniques for
aircraft components. Vibrant uses sonic resonance technology
originally developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

• DOE Issues Final RFP for Idaho Cleanup Project Core
– At the end of this 5 year contract the majority of cleanup will be complete in
Idaho and remaining nuclear materials will be in safe storage
– The ICP Core contract is a performance based contract type that includes
Cost-Plus-Incentive-Fee (CPIF) Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs) with
hybrid fee structures for both CPIF and schedule milestone and performance
incentive fees; and a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) CLIN
– The estimated dollar value for this procurement is greater than $1 Billion, with
a five year period of performance
– RFP includes ongoing Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project and ICP
work scopes that must continue into the future: completing treatment of the
liquid sodium bearing waste, stabilizing and storing spent nuclear fuel and
high-level waste; dispositioning transuranic waste; retrieving and
dispositioning targeted buried waste; closing the Idaho Nuclear Technology
and Engineering Center (INTEC) tank farm; maintaining the Comprehensive
Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) remedial
actions; and operating and maintaining the INTEC, the Radioactive Waste
Management Complex (RWMC), and the Radioactive Scrap and Waste
Facility (RSWF) facility infrastructure.
