Purpose StatementThe HSR&D/QUERI National Conference provides a scientific and educational forum that brings together VA researchers, clinicians, managers, and policymakers to address the educational gap between current practice and best practice and to share important research findings and innovative interventions aimed at improving the health and care of Veterans. The 2012 HSR&D/QUERI conference theme “Transforming Veteran Healthcare through Partner-Oriented Research” was chosen to stress the importance of research partnerships in ensuring continuous improvement and optimal delivery of healthcare for Veterans. Therefore, this conference will focus on establishing and maintaining close collaborative relationships between VA program partners and VA researchers, so that research is more responsive to the prioritized needs of the organization and the findings are more likely to be implemented into practice.
Target AudienceVA health services researchers, clinicians, policy makers.

Outcome/ObjectivesAt the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:1. Engage in partnership development around specific research projects that lead to evidence-based innovations to improve healthcare for Veterans.2. Promote effective translation of research findings into evidence-based clinical practices aimed at improving the quality of care for Veterans.3. Plan processes at the early stages of research project development that will increase the likelihood of uptake of evidence-based practices and reduce the time gap between discovery of innovations and implementation into clinical care.
