For the past two years the Illinois Department of Public Health has helped fund a veryimportant program, the Save a Life Foundation, in it's mission of teaching CPR and LifeSupporting First Aid to Illinois public school children.

It is clear that the Save a Life Foundation has been very successful having trained morethan 350,000 children in Illinois. The support of the Illinois Department of Public Health

has played a major role in that success.

However, the future of the program is at risk due to budgeted support being omitted fromthe IEPA budget for the coming year. The support of IEPA is desperately needed.

Therefore, I respectfully request your reconsideration of the budget and ask your supportto allocate $ 600,000 funding for this most important program.

The Save a Life Foundation provides a vital service to the State of Illinois in teaching of life supporting skills to childtren and adults. They need your help to continue tinsvalauble program.

Your consideration for IEPA budgeting is greatly appreciated

Dear Hon

I am sorry that I missed your call and would have liked to congratulation, you once again for beingappointed as the IML President. I know your term will be pleasurable, with full support of the members, because your a strong leader and kind individual. I will always be grateful to ML for welcoming me aspart of its family and aiding me with my mission,

H would give me great pleasure to bring our efforts to Edwardsvilfe as Irv discussed with you in the past.Although we have again been granted state funding, through IDPH, unfortunately it wasn't the amount weexpected to meet the demand for our service. Thus the offices of the U. Governor and Atty. Generafhave come to our aid with hope of matching funds from corporate partners. These funds wilt only targetthe rural communities in southern Illinois where EMS response is delayed and leave the balance of thestate status-quo.

Mayors Roger Claar, Rita Muljlns and Greg Scott are in Washington today for a conference with the U.S.Conference of Mayors. While triers they offered to advocate Congressmen B(agojev«ch and Hyde,Speaker Hasten, and Sen. Durbin to secure SALF with federal funds for FY2003. We have the

commitment from former Chicago Board of Education President Gery Chlco, and ComEd (our electric company) to do the same. If successful, we will have added funds to expand to other areas of Illinois, such as yours, until our state gets on its feet and more corporations get involved.

Might you have a suggestion as well?

Looking forward to our next visit.
