Key responsibilities:· Accurate and timely consolidation of inter-company balances, liaising with both Saudi

within the business unit, reconciling SAP inputs from multiple project teams· Ad hoc projects on cash flows, variance analysis, risk and opportunity analyses

Key achievements:Improved VAT outcomes and accuracy of forecasting for BAES SA - the complex nature of VAT between BAES SA, the Saudi Government and the MOD, meant forecasting VAT was difficult and prone to delay and inaccuracy. I self-initiated a stretch project to understand the causes and aimed to resolve this, firstly educating myself on the business’ tax policies and processes. Analysis identified the optimal solution to be better communication and working across teams as well as improved technical understanding. Securing sign up to an inter-unit timetable also allowed for better and more efficient information being received by BAES SA’s reporting team. This approach was also well received when rolled out across other teams such as programme funding, tax, reporting and projects.

Developed standardised reporting models - custom and practice had led to an inefficient and complex process. The new models were introduced across all project teams within the unit (14 in total), to be used by around 50 people. The outcome was an improvement in timeliness, accuracy and consistency, and was recognised by senior financial officers including the Financial Controllers, Finance Directors and the Vice-President Finance of BAES SA. A point of mention was that variance analyses were widely regarded as being more accurate and useful.
