Cal Meyer was a Sooke resident who generously created an endowment fund for Edward Milne students.

InformationThis award is donated in memory of Frazier Peterson (EMCS Grad 1998) by Precision Drilling.
All EMCS students are eligible, and the recipient will be selected by the EMCS Awards Committee.
Criteria: Exceptional achievement in sports, with secondary consideration for achievement in academics, community,and a passion for the outdoors.
Students must be entering FULL-TIME post-secondary studies. In order to receive the award, you must show proofof full-time registration and acceptance at a post-secondary training institution within eighteen months following highschool graduation.

InformationThis bursary is awarded to a graduating student to assist them in their training, upon proof of acceptance in anaccredited post-secondary school/institute to study Culinary Arts.
The chosen student will be selected by the Culinary Arts Teaching Staff at EMCS based upon the following criteria:- passionate about having and giving pleasure in the creativity, preparation and sharing of food with a focus on the useof natural and local food sources.

InformationThe amount of the award is currently $500.00. The applicant must have attended Journey Middle School for at leasttwo years, and is planning to pursue post secondary education in the upcoming school year. The winner of the awardwill be determined not only by academics, but by school activities and community involvement. The student’s financesand family circumstances have no bearing on the award. The bursary will be awarded upon proof of registration at apost secondary institution. Total score out of a possible 18 points: 8 points based on Grade 12 GPA, 10 points forschool and community involvement.

Informationthe Kathy Kirk Memorial scholarship is awarded to one deserving student from Edward Milne Community School whohas demonstrated that they wish to continue their studies of music.
The amount of monetary award may vary from year to year. It is the intent of the scholarship committee that thescholarship will be paid annually in the amount of $250.00, but may vary from year to year, depending on interestaccrual.
In the event that no one meets these qualifications this scholarship will not be given out, and funds held forsuccessive years.
Students must maintain a “B” average in grade 11 and 12 final course marks required for graduation, submit a resumeand provide two references, one from their community and one from their school.
Following proof of enrollment/registration and payment of fees the money will be paid directly to the recipient withthe understanding that the funds must be accessed within 24 months of the offer.

InformationReid Kyfiuk was a 15 year old boy who died on December 22, 2015 in a snowboarding accident on Mt. Washington. Hewas a student in SD63 (Saanich). Reid was a very lively, ambitious and intelligent person, who lived life to the fullest.He always had a smile on his face and was continually thinking of ways to make others smile. He loved sports,especially hockey, baseball and golf. Reid truly believed in the Golden Rule of treating others as you wish to betreated and that’s how he lived out his strong faith. His religious beliefs directly impacted the way he acted. Hesimply loved people. Without being obsessive, Reid worked hard at always improving himself. He loved being outdoors,and could usually be found practicing whatever sport was in season. He loved his family, and always enjoyed coming upwith the best impromptu jokes when everyone was together. Reid could always make everyone laugh. We invite you totell us about yourself and how you try to have some of the same qualities that Reid held.

InformationThe British Columbia Retired Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association (BCRPVPA) will be awarding four (4)bursaries/scholarships, in the amount of $1000 each, to students who graduate from the BC public school system andwho are continuing their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in British Columbia. (Students planninga “gap year” should apply in the year in which they enroll in a post-secondary program.)
Applicants who are pursuing education in technical and career fields, as well as those entering universities andcolleges, are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be judged on their academic achievements and demonstratedleadership and service activities both within the school and community. Financial need of applicants will also beconsidered.

The Grade 12 Essay Scholarship provides financial assistance to BC public school students planning to pursue ateaching career. One scholarship winner will be chosen among finalists from each of the BCSSA's six regionalchapters by a committee of educators. The winner will receive $1500, and the five finalists will receive $500 each. Inaddition to submitting an essay (1000 words maximum), applicants must provide a transcript of grades and two lettersof reference attesting to school/community leadership.

The International Pacific Halibut Commission funds several Merit Scholarships to support university, technicalcollege, and other post-secondary education. The scholarship fund has been established to assist the furthereducation of Canadian and U.S. students connected to the halibut fishery and its industry. Generally, a single newscholarship valued at $4,000 (US) per year is awarded. InformationEach year the Victoria Operatic Society awards a scholarship in the amount of $500.00(Canadian) to a student who has demonstrated talent in the performing arts. InformationThere are 55 BC Excellence Scholarships available to recognize well-rounded BC graduates.
Winners will have demonstrated community service, both inside and outside schools , and shown aptitude andcommitment to their chosen career paths. They will receive a $5000 scholarship voucher to use for post-secondarytuition.
Students must be nominated by their school. If nominated, the student must submit an application to their schooldistrict, who will forward it to the Ministry of Education for adjudication by the selection committee.
Districts must submit application packages on behalf of their nominees to the Ministry, usually by February or March.
