Activating java plugin

Open Firefox then tools-addones-plugins.

Click IcedTea-Web Plugin (using IcedTea-Web 1.5 (1.5-1ubuntu1))

Select always activate option

Video chat through google

Enable Google talk plugin as follows

Open Firefox then tools-addones-plugins

Select google talk plugin and google talk plugin video render as always activate

SHARING PASSWORD PROTECTED PDF DOCUMENTS?Use the following commandpdftk nameofyourdocument.pdf output outputname.pdf owner_pw ownerpassword user_pw userpassword

Replace the highlighted words with your ownConfigure Nettsetters in ubuntu 14.04

Plug your 3G stick and wait...Check “New mobile broadband connection” wizard and follow the stepsDetails hereIf “New mobile broadband connection” not found..Click on the Network Manager applet and then Edit connections

Click add

Choose connection Type as Mobile broadbandClick create

Click continueSelect country India

select service provider and continue

Check automatically connect to this network when it is available

Click on save

After these steps, you will get Network Connections, you will find "Your service providers connection" optionand click on it. In case if it does not connect to internet then you can just unplug and then plug your 3G stick.Restart your machine.

Using gnome ppp

Another option is gnome ppp.Relience netsetter can easily configure using gnome pppFollow the stepsOpen terminal and enter sudo gnome-pppEnter your system PasswordEnter username and password as your mobile numberPhone number#777Then click setup andThen detectwait until the system detect your modem then start browsing.............

CONFIGURING IBALL NETSETTER AND OTHERS

Go to Network manager applet and add your service providers details as described above.Try to connect this network.If it fails do as follows

LOGIN AS ROOT IN UBUNTU 14.04

Open terminal and enter sudo passwdEnter your system passwordEnter new unix password as root then press enterRe-enter new unix password root again.Then logout

Click on loginEnter your roots password root then press enterRe-enter roots password again and press enterNow you are logged as root!

Go to places and open your usb modem device there is a linux folder directory and instructions and script for installation.Copy the folder to desktop directory.Right click install.sh select properties –permissions---select read and write permissions .Check allow execute file as a programm.Close the file and double click install.sh---select open in terminal.Give password

After installation completes logout and login as your normal user.There may be a clash between your service providers software and network manager.If you use your serviceproviders software.,you must stop Net work manager.

Solution Click on network manager applet and start your connection.It works for Iball networks!

There is an application “Configure your 3G Netsetter” Created in application—Internet—Configure Your 3GNetsetter.It is only for a test!

PRINTER INSTALLATION

Almost all available printers added just like 12.04.The Printer can automatically detected and configured

Connect the Printer and wait...

Open Applications –system tools-system settings—printing.

You can see your printer is automatically detected and configured ….Start Printing.........!

CONFIGURING CANON LBP PRINTER

Connect the printer to USB Port

Open Home—canonlbp folder

If You are using canonLBP2900,double click on it and select run in terminal

Doubleclick restartcanon.sh and select run in terminal

Check The printer is installed

Application—System tool—System Settings—Printing

You can Check the Printers status

Right click on an empty Space—Select Open terminal ---Type sudo service ccpd status

I f You get Your output as two numbers,You are Done!

Start printing!

If you get only one number as output,Double click restartcanon.sh and select run in terminal again....

Connecting Your Smart Phone as an Internet Device

If you have a smart phone(Any phone) having internet no further internet connection is required for your Desktop/Laptop ...Details below

YOU CAN CONNECT YOUR SMART PHONE WITH LAPTOP IN THREE DIFFERENT WAYS

1.Wired connections Connect your smart Phone with USB cableNo setting required in your Laptop/DesktopChange settings in your phone

Go to Setting---system settings--More setting—tethering and portable hotspot—Make the USB Tethering option activeEnable Your Mobile dataNow connection EstablishedOpen Mozilla firefox and start browsing!

2.Bluetooth Tethering.Change settings in your phoneOpen settings—Bluetooth—Turn your blutooth on and set visibilityDesktop settingsClick on bluetooth applet and select setup a new device

After completing the search click the phone you want to pair and click continueCheck the confirmation pin number appeared in your mobile device ,check and accept.Accept the the passcode in your laptopIf you want to share mobile phones internet through your system ,check the option as shown below

Now bluetooth tathering is completed and your device name appears on NM Applet

On clicking on it internet connection through bluetooth established

You can open your mobile phone view pictures,videos and transfer files to your desktopfrom here.Your Mobile phone device mounted to the desktop.Open your devicecopy videos and pictures to your Desktop

3.Wi Fi TATHERINGUse Your smart phone as a Wi Fi Device and connect share internet using your Laptop

Open Mozilla firefox and start browsing!

For opening your web camera go to

PLAYING VIDEO CD&DVD

Insert CD/DVD in to the drive Applications---Sound and Video---VLC Media player

Media—open Disk

Select DVD or CD

Then Click Play

CHANGING KEYBOARD LAYOUT.ADDING NEW LANGUAGES...ETC

By default two languages English and Malayalam are added.

Changing Keyboard layout Using KeyboardSuper+Space(Win key+Space key)

Adding more languagesApplication—System tools—system settings—keyboardThen Click Text entry

Click on add

Select desired language from the list

You can also change keyboard layout changing key by clicking super+space and shows your keys there

(Press your desired key option in the keyboard)

Please Check Your font is meera when typing Malayalam,Change it in to meera after typing a sentence

CONFIGURING D-LINK NETSETTER

Plug Your Usb Device-Go to NM applet—Click and edit connections----add----Select Mobile broadband---

Create----continue---Select your country India---Select your Providers name from the list---continue---then

---Apply (Please Refer Page3)

But you may not see your providers connection in Network managers applet.

To see your connection on NM Applet do as follows

Click on Places and computers

Right click your modem device and select Eject

After ejecting...

Now you can see your device in NM applet and activate by clicking on it!

By clicking on it connection established!

No additonal drivers for broadcom drivers are needed ! You may detect Wi Fi,bluetooth and others..

in Dell,Lenova,HP...... all Machines are supported !
