Field Visit of Concrete Road Construction Site

Students of BE Sem. 5 of Department of Civil Engineering visited concrete road construction siteat RUDA Transport Nagar, Anandpar on 10 Oct., 2019. The visit was aimed to make studentsaware about the practice adopted in rigid pavement construction like mixing of concrete, laying,finishing, etc. Students also learned about quality control methods adopted in concrete roadconstruction.

Expert Talk on Cyber Security

Expert talk on Cyber Security was arranged for students of BE Sem. 5 of Department of CivilEngineering and Department of Computer Engineering on 7 Oct., 2019. Mr. Nisarg Acharya -Cyber Security Researcher and Corporate Trainer, ISRA Ahmedabad, was invited as an expert forsharing his knowledge in this domain. The talk was focused on basics about cyber security,cyber crime, cyber laws, windows hacking, Android mobile hacking, etc. He also discussed waysto safely maintain profile and personal information like an email account, social media account,bank account details etc.

Industrial Visit at Thermal Power Generation Project CGPL - Tata Power, Mundra

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an industrial visit at Thermal PowerGeneration Project CGPL - Tata Power, Mundra, Gujarat for final year students at theDepartment. The tour was organized during 11-12 Oct., 2019. Tata Power plant is India’s first4000 MW private power plant. The first day of the visit began with interactive theory class atTata Power Skill Development Institute and later followed by power plant visit. The second dayof the visit included visit to Mudra Port - the largest private port of India owned by Adani Group.This was followed by a leisure time spent at Mandvi Beach.

One Day Workshop on Civil3D

Department of Civil Engineering organized one day workshop for final year students on Civil3D,a CAD software, on 5 Oct., 2019. The workshop was delivered by Prof. Pinakin Patel, AssistantProfessor, BVM Engineering College, V. V. Nagar. He explained process of Highway GeometricDesign such as Designing of Horizontal and Vertical Curve, Super Elevation and Pavement CrossSection Elements etc. The workshop helped students to better understand fundamental ofTransportation Engineering and also motivated them to pursue career in the same.

Industrial Visit at Elecon Engineering Co. Ltd. and Amul Dairy Ltd.

Industrial visit at Elecon Engineering Co. Ltd, V. V. Nagar was organised by Department ofMechanical Engineering on 11 Oct., 2019. The objective of the industrial visit was to exposestudents to various gear manufacturing process starting from raw material to finished product.As a part of this students visited raw material department, gear manufacturing department,heat treatment department, gear finishing department, gear assembly department and geartesting department (quality control department).

The second visit was at Amul Dairy Ltd. which started with the visit of Amul Dairy’s Museum.The museum described complete story of evolution of Amul Dairy. The museum also describedthe success story behind one of the largest dairy industry Anand Milk Union Limited (AMUL)through photo gallery, model of dairy and audio-visual. This was followed by visit to threedifferent sections of plant namely Butter plant, Milk powder plant and Milk process unit.Students were able to observe various process involved with manufacturing, packing anddispatching of Amul products.

Series of Two One Day Workshop on .NET 3-Tire Architecture

Department of Computer Engineering organized series of two one day in-house workshop on.NET 3-Tire Architecture on 26 Sept., 2019 and 7 Oct., 2019 for their students of BE Sem. 5. Theworkshop covered topics like concepts of 3 tire architecture in software development, threemajor layers viz. Presentation Layer, Business Access Layer (BAL) and Data Access Layer,importance of Entity (ENT), etc. The workshop also covered demonstration of working code of 3tire architecture in the project.

Attended Faculty Development Program on Intellectual Property

Prof. Sunil Janiyani, Asst. Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering, attended a FacultyDevelopment Program on Intellectual Property (IP), organized by Gujarat TechnologicalUniversity, at GTU Center in AVPTI Campus, Rajkot. The program was organized during 3-5 Oct.2019. The program covered aspects on IPR, patent matters, innovation promotion, Indian patentsystem, patent search, patent drafting, SSIP mechanism for patent filing, etc. Sessions during theprogram were delivered by eminent experts from industries, Government and academia.

Attended Awareness Program on Smart Gujarat for New India Hackathon 2019-20

Prof. D. D. Vyas, Professor Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, attendedan awareness session on Smart Gujarat for New India Hackathon 2019-20 (SGH 2019-20) heldat Marwadi University, Rajkot on 23 Oct., 2019. The objective of the program was to sensitize allinstitute coordinators and to explain the process of SGH 2019-20. It is worth to know that underSGH 2019-20 total of 178 industries across the state have shared 249 industry definedchallenges. The aim of the event is to motivate students across the state to make systematicefforts to solve these technical challenges.

A Letter from a Father to His Son, Who has Cleared His Graduation

Dear Son,

Consider this letter of mine to be a small gift from your father to you at your graduation.Congratulations! You’ve come so far, that I stand with my chest wide and head risen in front ofthe people who once used to tell me that educating you was a mistake. Today, I proudly say tothem, that it was not a mistake to let you flow in the ocean of knowledge. You have justified thatyour knowledge is the only thing that has brought you from being a commoner to a special one.

I know you’ve learned a lot in life. And I am very much pleased and satisfied with the wayyou have worked hard on yourself right from the beginning up until now. This is what makes mefeel that you’ll understand what I’m going to tell you in this little piece of paper.

Life is not always fair, and you shouldn’t even expect it to be. Sometimes, life will throwyou into such circumstances, where you’ll be on the verge of giving up. At that time, remembermy words. Life turns around only for those who hang on and keep working, not for the ones whostand up and walk out during the test of life.

Everything you do, make sure it has its significance, its value. Never let your efforts go invain. Do the right thing and forget whatever difficulties you faced. Remember only the lessonthat it taught you.

Stop following people. Draw inspiration from the ones you want to be like and thencreate your own new path. See their lives. You’ll get to know that followers do not create newpaths.

Learn to compare yourself with your own past, and not with others, because you aredifferent. You are one of a kind. A lion and a cheetah cannot be compared because they bothhave their own strengths and their own weaknesses. Lion has strength while a cheetah hasspeed.

Last thing I want to tell you is that make yourself so strong that any external force shouldnot shake you. Stay strong like a mountain from the mind, and soft as cotton from your heart.

Forget what others say. They will say for a few days and then get to their own works, noteven thinking about what you feel.

The way you bring yourself in front of the world is not how the world will see you. Theywill judge you as they want to. But it should make no difference to you.

At last, I just want to say that I’m grateful to the Almighty that I have a son like you and Iam proud of you.
