Together our voices
create change.
Rain clouds in a cup, and rain clouds in the sky…Oh, what a
beautiful sound rain…music to our ears…and joy for many families.
Interesting, Calming, Beautiful. The weather is changing, and we often see and talk about the shape and size of clouds and how they vary in shades of white and grey. These commonly occurring conversations led us to learning more about clouds and how it is that rain can fall from them sometimes. Rain clouds in a cup experiment: We used shaving cream to create a cloud like look on top of the water. We then dropped food colouring into our shaving cream 'cloud'. As our cloud filled up with food colouring, the food colouring fell down into the water creating a rain-like effect. ... Did you know that when clouds get so full of water that they can't hold any more, the water falls back to the ground as rain. It all sounds so simple, if only we could fill those clouds with water when we need it.
Inspired and curious, we all
asked lots of great questions.
Some questions were tricky,
and we had to investigate.
The weight of the water in
the dark grey clouds pushes
through to make rain that
falls to the ground. Rain has
lots of vitamins and minerals
(healthy Stuff for our plants,
trees, grass and crops).
Interesting,
Calming,
Beautiful.
Well planned…Luckily, we planted our
seeds in our vegetable garden before
the rain fell.
Strategies, concepts and
mathematical moments!
Mathematic moments followed by a
little heartful fun!
Our task was set…to work together to create a
3D representative of the geometrical shapes of
the Skeleton using recycled materials.
Cause and effect! When watering our sweet
peas Harley discovered that if we put water down
the hole at the top it runs out the bottom. We all
then explored and had to have a go!
Children are competent learners and our educators
have respect for children’s individual learning styles,
and capabilities. Our educational team hold high
expectations of the conceptual (concrete) ideas
that children explore, discover and to learn.
