1. The Language Enrichment ProjectWho is the LE programme for?
This programme is part of a universal offer to support children in primary and secondary schools whose communication may have been adversely affected by the pandemic and who will likely make progress in relation to their language and communication skills with intervention.
School chose a specific age group to support in the second half of the Summer Term:

A Language Enrichment champion is identified in each school to lead the programme. Often this is a HLTA.

- an overview of different programme options, including: Vocabulary, Narrative Skills and Social Communication.
Following this, Language Enrichment Champions deliver 6 sessions over 4 weeks:

• Almost every primary school in Barnet sent along at least one person for training.
• 93% (90/97) primary schools were either trained or have made contact
• 11 secondary schools
Feedback to date is positive!
2. The RRR schools’ bid for partnership projects
£231,000 of funding from Barnet Council has been put aside to fund or part-fund interventions/support projects from schools or partnerships which will have significant impact on the recovery.

• To be submitted using the Google form link ONLY, before midday on Friday 2nd July
• Preference will be given to bids from 2 or more schools working together although individual school bids will also be considered
• Schools may only apply for one bid, whether as an individual or in a partnership.
• Project costs can exceed the amount stated above although this* is the maximum funding you will receive; these part-funded bids will be considered equally.
• Funding will not be given to schools with excessive balances (over 10% of income) at the end of the last financial year who would be expected to provide their school’s funding for the project themselves, unless they can demonstrate that most of the balance is required for a specific major project.
• The Governing Body of each school must agree to the bid.
• Submissions will be reviewed and ranked by a panel. Not all bids will be successful.
• Decisions will be made on Thursday 8th July

Four bids requested S&L therapy. We were
able to fund an additional £50,000
from therapies funding
Nearly half of the bids (20 bids) were successful albeit some only part funded. 55 schools will benefit from this funding and over 13,000 pupils. The total amount allocated to schools was £321,000. Added to this 7 further schools benefitted from the Speech and Language Therapy funding of £50,000 meaning that 62 schools received some funding from this process.
This is broken down as follows:
