Job Posting: Education and Outreach Intern JOB DESCRIPTION: The Bay Area Restoration Council (BARC) is offering a temporary position starting May 2014 for 6 weeks. The successful candidate will assist with program delivery and communicating to the public. RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver BARC’s youth programs including Stream of Dreams™, Yellow Fish Road™, Water School, and Creeks & Creepy Crawlies. Run activities at events such as the City of Hamilton Children’s Water Festival and Earth Day Ecofestival. Work shifts at BARC’s information kiosk at Bayfront Park. This includes setup and teardown during each shift, providing information and answering questions from the public. Assist in training and overseeing volunteers at the information kiosk. Deliver public events such as Marsh Volunteer Planting. Assist with planning of annual Dragonboat festival. Assist with building of BARC’s pilot rain garden. Set up and staff BARC display booth at community events as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience/interest in working with children. Must provide a Police Vunerable Sector Check (PVSC). A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle. Passion for environmental issues. Ability to work without supervision. Flexible schedule as some evening/weekend work is required. Ability to lift heavy objects and work during inclement weather. RATE OF PAY: $14 per hour at 21 hours/week. Overtime may be required with time taken off in lieu.
