Preschool

• Preschool education is the provision of education for children before the commencement of statutory and obligatory education, usually between the ages of zero or three and five, depending on the jurisdiction

In the U.S., kindergartens are usually part of the K-12 educational system. It is only one school-year. Children usually attend kindergarten around age 5 to 6.

While kindergarten was viewed as a separate part of the elementary program, it is now fully integrated into the school system, except that in many places it

is only offered for half-a-day

Secondary education • Is generally split between junior high

school and high school or middle school and high school.

• The term middle school usually refers to grades six through eight; Junior high school refers to grades seven through nine.[3] High school encompasses grade levels 9 through 12.

The years are normally numbered beginning with sixth grade (at or around age 12) or seventh grade (at or around age 13) and

progressing to 12th grade (ending at or around age 18).

Future employers or colleges may want to see steady improvement in grades and a good attendance record on the official transcript. Therefore, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their education

Private and public schools

• K-12 students in most areas have a choice between free tax-funded public schools or privately-funded private schools

Unlike public school systems, private schools have no legal obligation to accept any interested student.

Depending upon the type of school and program, annual graduate program tuition can vary from $15,000 to as high as $50,000. Note that these prices do not include living expenses (rent, room/board, etc.) or additional fees such as for books.
