What is nia?the national insulation association is a non-profit industry trade association whose members specialize in mechanical insulation in the commercial and industrial sectors. We provide our members with services, education, training, and advocacy, as well as advancing the industry. as the voice of the mechanical insulation industry, we interact with the federal government, capitol hill, non-government organizations, and other relevant groups that influence or need knowledge of our industry. our goal is simple: help our members excel and succeed in their endeavors and grow the industry.

organizational structurenia is composed of members, led by members, and paid for by members. We serve our members through:

• operating committees and various task forces, which review and assess the issues of each segment of our industry and recommend actions to our board of Directors.

• leadership of 5 executive committee members who are part of a 19-member board of Directors. the nia board includes representatives from all 6 regional associations and implements changes and solutions for our association and industry.

• past presidents, who as a group counsel and guide the association and its leadership.

• a professional staff who support the direction of the membership, committees, and board of Directors.

membership in nia allows member companies to be viewed as professional, responsible, successful, engaged, interested, and committed to the industry and customers they serve.

For a small contractor, the value of NIA Is almost incalculable. The benefits of the national exposure, the value of the

knowledge of some of the brightest and best contractors in the country, the relationships with manufacturers, contractors,

distributors, and fabricators, and being part of the industry movement are what NIA is all about. Be there.

I have found that although NIA members compete against each other every day, there are times such as Committee Days

and the Convention where competition is left at the door and we come together for the betterment of our industry. We may

not always agree, but in the end we strive toward the common goal. We at Petrin believe that giving back to our profession

will make us a better company. Participating in NIA is an excellent way of being involved in our industry.

I am convinced that Auburn Manufacturing, Inc., is a better company and I am a better manager of it thanks to our associa-

tion with NIA over the past 15 years. I think that’s due in part to the fact that NIA is big enough to provide the valuable

services mentioned here, yet small enough for us to get to know its members and their families.
