Introduction
Thank you for expressing an interest in applying for the Firefighter and Community Safety Apprentice role with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS). We are one of the country’s leading Fire and Rescue Services with a proud heritage and great team ethos. Our mission is a simple one and that is to be an outstanding service where there are no deaths, injuries or damage from fires or other emergencies.
This exciting 21 month apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge you will need to be a firefighter within a modern fire and rescue service. By choosing to participate in our Apprenticeship, you will be taking on a rewarding yet demanding role that will not only change your life but also help save the lives of others. Being a firefighter is challenging and can involve a number of situations not commonly found in other jobs, including working at height, carrying heavy equipment, working outdoors and in enclosed spaces. In accordance with the Equality Act 2010 we are asking the question at the bottom of this section to ensure that all applicants who are disabled receive the appropriate support and reasonable adjustments and to monitor all aspects of our recruitment process.
Below are the 4 definitions of someone who is classed a disabled under the Act.
1. 4. The impairment must affect the person’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day

activities. These include mobility; manual dexterity; physical co-ordination; continence; ability to lift or carry objects; speech, hearing or sight; memory or ability to concentrate, learn or understand.
