EDUARD:NEWS IN MARCH March 1st, 2003

KITSThis month, there are more new kits in our list than usual. One of the more interesting released thisyear should be the EXTRATECH 1/72nd scale Achilles tank destroyer. Achilles is an Eduard/Extratech

co-operative effort, and the kit is available through Eduard. What can we say about the kit? If you havea look at the pictures, you can see it is very well detailed, with 250 parts, including the injection moldedtracks. The other M-10 and M-36 tank destroyers are to be released during the spring of 2003, the M-10 being slated next. All these kits will also be released in the improved version, called EXTRAPACK,with a photo-etch set and some extra cast resin details, such as rolled bags. Concerning our ownproduction, we have two new kits this month. There is the 1/72nd scale Airco DH-2, a small butfamous fighter pusher, and is the first one. The second one is the 1/48th scale Lysander Mk.IIIProfiPACK. This Lysander is done in the same style as the successful P-40N Warhawk, which meansthat the kit represents an improved version of the well known Gavia Lysander. The Eduard Lysanderintroduces some new resin parts, such as the engine cylinders, front part of the engine cowling,bombs, wheels with open wheel hood, and some other parts. Plus, plenty of the photo-etch details, ofcourse. There are four marking options, representing the aircraft in various times of its rich servicehistory.

Airco DH-2 Lysander Mk.IIIPHOTOETCHWhat is the most interesting photoetch set this month? Difficult to say. The T-55 set for the newTamiya kit, I guess. Or, maybe, the Sd.Kfz.222. The old set was one of the best sellers, and this newone is better, I'm sure. So, maybe it should be. However, if you are looking for the most unusual set, itwould likely be the Pz.IV Ausf.H Schurzen Zimmerit set, and the Pz.IV Ausf. H turret SchurzenZimmerit set (both are designed for the Tamiya kit). These are probably the biggest sets we have everreleased, with very original design solutions.

Also, the T-34 spring mattress Schurzen are very unusual. Among the aircraft sets, we are releasingtwo helicopter complete sets, two for the Mi-24 Hind, and two sets for the Sea King. As far as pre-painted sets are concerned, we have two in 1/48th scale: one for the Bf 109E3, and one for the Fw190A3 (both are for the Tamiya kits), and two 1/72nd scale sets, one for the P-51D Mustang (Tamiya),and the second one for F-4E Phantom II (Hasegawa). Mi-24 HindEXPRESS MASKThere are a dozen of the canopy mask sets, most in 1/72nd scale, and four new photoetched blotchmask sets for Messerschmitt Bf 109 F/G.

WHAT ABOUT APRIL?We are going to release the DH-2 as a ProfiPACK kit, and, I hope, April is the right time to release thefirst Eduard 1/16th scale figure kit. This will be Manfred von Richthofen. We are in a delay with him,whichshould be good for the figure project, because we had enough time to incorporate some interestingimprovements into the original kit concept. Also, Extratech will release their M-10 tank destroyer. Asusual, we have new photoetched sets in development for the 1/48th scale Gladiator, P-47D, MiG 15,Seafire Mk.46/47, Su-25K, 1/72 Fw 190A3, Bf 109E, EH 101 Merlin, 1/35th scale S-tank, SCUD B,and a new, very nice waffle style Zimmeritt for the Panther are all nearing completion!V.Sulc
