Job Title: El Diablo Tranquilo Hostel & Bar Maintenance Associate Location: Punta del Diablo, Uruguay Mandatory Travel Commitment: 6 months with the option to lengthen your experience Position Overview: Maintenance Associates at El Diablo Tranquilo play an integral role in the behind the scenes operations of our seaside hostel and restaurant. You will be exposed to the challenges and rewards of a small business venture in a foreign setting and will assist in the management and execution of necessary upkeep and new construction projects. El Diablo Tranquilo provides an international atmosphere, exposing each associate to cultures and languages from around the world in a dynamic coastal area. Maintenance associates will garner valuable experience adapting new materials and methods in completion of general maintenance, sanitary and plumbing, electrical and audio, as well as rough and finish carpentry. Job Functions Weekly assessments of the condition of hostel and restaurant infrastructure. Responsibility for basic repairs and response to damage or wear of installations. Work with the administrative team to plan and complete new and existing construction projects. Manage a and participate in a team of local and international tradespeople/laborers. Requirements Minimum Experience: Working knowledge and experience in the areas of carpentry, electric work, and basic plumbing. Preferred Experience: Experience with audio or IT installation, flipping houses, completion of trade school, start to finish project organization. Basic knowledge of Spanish language. Ability to adapt to and maintain balance within combined work and living environment. Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Creativity and ability to think outside of the box and adapt to new materials/conditions. Ability to take initiative and work efficiently under pressure. Flexibility of schedule, priorities, and daily routine. Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to respond to new challenges in a proactive manner. Compensation and Benefits Full room and board during your work commitment. $200 monthly stipend Staff breakfast until noon and one meal off the restaurant menu each day.
