Job Title: El Diablo Tranquilo Hostel and Bar Associate Location: Punta del Diablo, Uruguay Mandatory Travel Commitment: 6 months with the option to lengthen your experience Position Overview: Associates at El Diablo Tranquilo play an integral role in the front of house operations of our seaside hostel and restaurant. You will be exposed to the challenges and rewards of a small business venture in a foreign setting and will assist in both daily decision-making and strategic planning. El Diablo Tranquilo provides an international atmosphere, exposing each associate to cultures and languages from around the world. Job Functions Work directly with the El Diablo administrative team to create a customer-friendly atmosphere and provide quality service to hostel and restaurant guests. Travel to hostels in Uruguay, Argentina, or Brazil to maintain strategic relationships. Master web-based reservation and point of sale systems. Collect, record and respond to guest feedback. Assist in the development of advertising and marketing strategies and materials, including web-based promotion, client reviews and social media. Participate in an independent project bringing together personal goals with company objectives. Requirements Spanish and English Fluency ability to communicate in both languages with minimal translation assistance Microsoft Office and Internet literacy. Full acceptance of responsibility for cash accounts, actions, and their consequences. Ability to adapt to and maintain balance within combined work and living environment. Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Creativity and ability to think outside of the box Ability to take initiative and work efficiently under pressure. Flexibility of schedule, priorities, and daily routine. Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to respond to new challenges in a proactive manner. Compensation and Benefits Full room and board during your work commitment. $200 monthly stipend Staff breakfast until noon and one meal from the restaurant menu each day. El Diablo provides a basic health insurance plan, but travel insurance is also recommended and is the responsibility of the employee to obtain prior to arrival. Employees are eligible to access Uruguay’s public health system.
