    GOLF OUTING TO HONOR FREDERICKS

More than 50 golfers came out to the Turning Stone Resort

in Verona, N.Y., on September 14, 2011 to honor

Rockland County Fire Instructor Andy Fredericks, who

perished on September 11, 2001. Andy was a lieutenant

    with FDNY Squad 18.

A very accomplished fire instructor; he was known

nationwide not only as a teacher but also as an author,

writer/producer/director, and star of Fire Chiefs' annual

Seminar Series instructor, lecturing on "The Millennium

Engine Company" across New York State. Nearly 10 years

ago Andy's colleagues out in the western part of the

country started a golf tournament in his honor. The money

raised has gone on to benefit scholarships for those

pursuing a career in the fire service and to local burn

centers, and the statue of Andy at the Fire Training Center.

This year was the first year the tournament was held in

New York State. Many golfers traveled across the country

to honor Andy's name, his dedication, and service to his

    craft.

According to Mike Healy, Rockland County fire instructor

and Andy's colleague and friend, "Andy was an all-around

fireman, good at what he did and dedicated to fire service

and safety. The support of this golf tournament this year

and throughout its tenure is a testament to the kind of man

Andy was. Thanks to Sue Reviore, NYSAFC
